The Deep State is playing COVID-19 perfectly. With the intention to create/instill extra fears amid center-right Americans; and timed to emphasize the center-left narrative of authoritarian Trump; U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr steps in to execute his role.
U.S. AG Bill Barr asks legislators to empower him with more legal authority to take actions within the justice department amid the crisis known as the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic.
Via Politico) The Justice Department has quietly asked Congress for the ability to ask chief judges to detain people indefinitely without trial during emergencies part of a push for new powers that comes as the coronavirus spreads through the United States.
Documents reviewed by POLITICO detail the departments requests to lawmakers on a host of topics, including the statute of limitations, asylum and the way court hearings are conducted.
[ ] The DOJ requests which are unlikely to make it through a Democratic-led House span several stages of the legal process, from initial arrest to how cases are processed and investigated.
In one of the documents, the department proposed that Congress grant the attorney general power to ask the chief judge of any district court to pause court proceedings whenever the district court is fully or partially closed by virtue of any natural disaster, civil disobedience, or other emergency situation. Perfectly timed to ignite a week before AG Barr goes before the House Judiciary Committee for testimony March 31st. Strong execution game by the deep state.

I already found the article and mention that in my post. What I can’t find is the “documents” that politico is basing their story on. They don’t have a link to any fedgov/wh docs.
But they never said they had the documents, they said Politico reviewed the documents:
Documents reviewed by POLITICO detail the departments requests to lawmakers on a host of topics, including the statute of limitations, asylum and the way court hearings are conducted. POLITICO also reviewed and previously reported on documents seeking the authority to extend deadlines on merger reviews and prosecutions.
A.G. Barr must have found some more Republicans to prosecute.
Same as “sources familiar with the situation”

Can’t take any of them for their word
“I think this is due to courts being closed during the lock down. Rather than releasing violet offenders, they will be held without arraignment until the courts reopen.”

Can’t the bail hearings ect. be done by video conference as many already are instead of granting extraordinary un-constitutional powers to the govt.?
BTY, be mindful that our govt. is run under Emergency Power now as it is. So this power to detain without trial would be in effect 24/7, 365. Not a good idea folks.
Art of the Deal?
Yes, short term pain for the long term gain if removing Trump. They want to restore Chinese based globalism. Besides, they all sold stock high, they will make a killing out of this.
This article like many others are thrown out there and guess what...no other news organizations or major web sites are carrying this story. I am always leary of articles like this.
How about ... no.
It might be instructive to review the case of Mary Mallon (September 23, 1869 November 11, 1938), also known as Typhoid Mary, was an Irish cook.
She was the first person in the United States identified as an [b/] asymptomatic [b\] carrier of the pathogen associated with typhoid fever. She was presumed to have infected 51 people, three of whom died, over the course of her career as a cook.
She was twice forcibly isolated by public health authorities and died after a total of nearly three decades in isolation. As I recall, she refused to voluntarily distance herself and went back to her work as a cook, infecting more.
Can’t happen in our modern society? I refer you to the morons with Aids who made it a point to risk transmitting the virus to as many unknown partners as possible. I think they had a nickname for it.
Look at the spring breakers who are deliberately breaking the pleas of everyone in government to stay at home, and keep interaction to essentials with social distancing.
So, the carrier may not even know he has it.
A person often does not know that he/she has an STD.
But to sleep around and take the RISK of spreading it to others can be seen as irresponsible.
I do not know if I would become an alcoholic because I have neve taken that first drink.
I do not know if I would have won or lost a game of Russian Roulette because I never played.
We can’t always get what we want. Sometimes we have to filter our wants through a risk-reward evaluation.
I think makes a mistake in treating government hires like you would do in business

So, asking for authority to stop the clock on a hold of a prisoner while the court is closed? If you don’t do this, it is like the NY no-bail law. A significant subset will just keep cycling through the system if they don’t.
Sundance THINKS AG Barr has gone rogue. To me it looks as though Barr is just preparing in case. Sundance has his head in a dark place, is inimical to Q and thinks hes very smart.
I have a severe dislike of Sundance as he thinks Trump is either stupid and easily led or not a good guy at all. And I used to read him regularly. Sundance who thinks Trump is stupid, far stupider than Sundance anyway, trust an evil Deep State Barr.
This is all based on a Politico story, snips below, and I pointed this out yesterday - Who in Congress gave these documents to Politico? Let us see them. Politico lies with ease. And it never crosses Sundances mind that maybe if this Politico story is accurate (about which we have no idea yet), maybe this increased powers are for arresting Derps. The whole article is well worth reading, whether accurate or not, since Politco HATES these supposed requests, its probable that said requests (if accurate) are useful and designed for serving justice.

DOJ seeks new emergency powers amid coronavirus pandemic
One of the requests to Congress would allow the department to petition a judge to indefinitely detain someone during an emergency.
The move has tapped into a broader fear among civil liberties advocates and Donald Trumps critics that the president will use a moment of crisis to push for controversial policy changes. Already, he has cited the pandemic as a reason for heightening border restrictions and restricting asylum claims. He has also pushed for further tax cuts as the economy withers, arguing it would soften the financial blow to Americans. And even without policy changes, Trump has vast emergency powers that he could deploy right now to try to slow the coronavirus outbreak.
So who in Congress gave these documents to Politico to “review”? It that even legal? Politico hates all good and loves all evil. Sundance is crazy for believing them and agreeing with them.
IF Barr has proposed what he is said to have propposed, he has good reason to do so. And if Politico even “reviewed” any “documents”, I would have to see said documents before accepting Politico’s take on them.
Yup. The law is the law, or it's not. If they can't bring the accused before a judge, he should be freed. When the government overreacts and becomes arguably insane, there are adverse consequences. Let them contemplate that while they are declaring that we are nothing but serfs to be ordered about at will by any level of government that has also lost it's collective mind.
Thats exactly what is driving the DOJ here. Theyre asking congress to establish by law some kind of process that addresses the simple dilemma facing Federal courts right now.
I sure as heck wouldn't put any money on that.
