The Deep State is playing COVID-19 perfectly. With the intention to create/instill extra fears amid center-right Americans; and timed to emphasize the center-left narrative of authoritarian Trump; U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr steps in to execute his role.
U.S. AG Bill Barr asks legislators to empower him with more legal authority to take actions within the justice department amid the crisis known as the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic.
Via Politico) The Justice Department has quietly asked Congress for the ability to ask chief judges to detain people indefinitely without trial during emergencies part of a push for new powers that comes as the coronavirus spreads through the United States.
Documents reviewed by POLITICO detail the departments requests to lawmakers on a host of topics, including the statute of limitations, asylum and the way court hearings are conducted.
[
] The DOJ requests which are unlikely to make it through a Democratic-led House span several stages of the legal process, from initial arrest to how cases are processed and investigated.
In one of the documents, the department proposed that Congress grant the attorney general power to ask the chief judge of any district court to pause court proceedings whenever the district court is fully or partially closed by virtue of any natural disaster, civil disobedience, or other emergency situation. Perfectly timed to ignite a week before AG Barr goes before the House Judiciary Committee for testimony March 31st. Strong execution game by the deep state.

I don’t know.
I live in a county that has less than 6,000 people. We don’t have or expect an overload.

Im wondering if these courts will be re-opened for obvious reasons once Congress doesn’t act on the DOJs request.

He has outroght made proposals to Congress that Trump has himself said he didn’t favor, so it sure looks like Trump can’t touch Barr, which unfortunately would fit with the rumors when Barr was picked after Poppy’s death that he was the Bushes’ man put in to enforce their truce with Trump.

I prefer the term demonrats for the dems as it aptly describes all that is unholy about them. Their actions are purely demonic as is communism, socialism etc. I call the republicans repubes because they are no more useful than such. And libtards, well you get the gist. There are no republicans anymore, just repubes. There are no liberals anymore as they infest these forums without abandon and infect those who will give their thoughts a half a chance of sprouting. And there are no republicans anymore and have various names like RINOs etc. We had hope in the Tea Party but once they were elected it was more like the Flea party. We need term limits pure and simple. Enough of the career politician. Time to get back to tending the land and growing our country into a better place for all to want to come and embrace the ideals as their own. America is lost in a sea of fog. Time to set the beacon and bring her back to the shores of freedom and liberty. Unless that too is now an entitlement to only the very few.

I'm perfectly willing to believe that the Corrupt Establishment (including the Deep State, Democrats, establishment Republicans, the news media, and their fellow travelers) are pouring gasoline on the flames of the pandemic panic in yet another attempt to destroy President Trump, prevent the exposure of their crimes and corruption, and maintain their power and privileges.
Obviously they will stop at nothing to achieve their evil objectives.
But that's not all. The example of Italy and the rest of Europe loom before us.
The pandemic is real. The coronavirus is obviously highly contagious, though its mortality rate is low.
I think it's the Information Age that has produced the extreme measures. In the past, we would have suffered the pandemic until it ran its course. Today, because of the Information, we see a real possibility of containing and ameliorating it, and we are compelled to do so.
President Trump is doing a magnificent job of shepherding the American People through this pandemic.
No one could do a better job of handling the economy or the spread of the disease. Once the pandemic is over, the Trump Economy will come roaring back and reach unprecedented heights.
Of course, the evil Corrupt Establishment will exploit the crisis as much as it can. Expect the worst of them, and you will not be surprised.
As for Barr--I don't know what to think. He seems honest, but so far he has done little to expose the coup d'état attempt and those guilty. Surely he is aware of the danger the Corrupt Establishment poses and the necessity of bringing it to a halt and assuring that it never threatens the USA again.
I am puzzled by Barr.
But I have absolute and complete confidence in President Trump, in his intelligence, his wisdom, his puissance, his benevolence, and his ability to bring America through this crisis and into the ascendancy and booming economy to follow.
I all have complete confidence in his ability to withstand whatever obstacles his enemies--and the enemies of America--throw before him.
He has done it before--consistently!
President Trump and the American People will prevail. We have in the White House one of the greatest Presidents in US history--possibly the greatest.
AND WE SHALL OVERCOME!
KEEP THE FAITH!

Term limits are not the solution.
An informed voting public is the solution. It may be impossible at this point with the bought media.

I could easily be wrong, however, I think this is due to courts being closed during the lock down. Rather than releasing violet offenders, they will be held without arraignment until the courts reopen.
Your concern is legitimate and needs to be addressed.
There should be a plan. However, the Constitution also allows the defendant to choose between a jury trial and a trial by a judge.
With the abilities we have now to communicate electronically, including face to face communications, there is no real reason to change our laws.
During a nationwide or local curfew, judges can hold hearings electronically communicating with the prosecution and defense and set bail where appropriate.
Problem solved without damaging our constitutional rights.

Democrats will position themselves a pearl-clutching civil libertarians, and AG Barr will respond by framing the Trump administration as authoritarian. Everyone has a role to play in the political framework and purposing of COVID-19 as a snowball rolling downhill gathering speed…
The state is operating to protect itself, by any means necessary.
