Mitt Romney called on the federal government to send every adult $1,000 immediately to help cope financially with the economic damage caused by the spread of the coronavirus.

“Every American adult should immediately receive $1,000 to help ensure families and workers can meet their short-term obligations and increase spending in the economy,” Romney, a Utah Republican senator and 2012 presidential nominee, said in a statement.

Romney is registered to the wrong party ... i assume he doesn’t switch parties only because he couldn’t win in Utah with the “D” after his name ...

Well, Mitt. If you're really serious, how many checks can you send out of your personal fortune? 1000? 10000? Show us you're serious. You go first.

My address is, Louavul in Louisville.....

Remember now, in 2016 there were many Freepers who insisted that if you would not Vote for Mitt Romney and give him control of the Republican Party that meant that you wanted Obama to be president...not the person who you actually voted for and you wanted Obama’s policies (which as we have seen are largely identical to Romney’s) not the policies your candidate espoused.

Unconditional party loyalty to the Republicans was the ultimate virtue after all.

But the rebate checks apparently didn’t have the desired stimulus effect:

“People will spend it and keep the economy going.”

That apparently didn’t happen in 2008 with the rebate checks:

“Laid off people don’t have to worry about rent or mortgage.
People will spend it and keep the economy going.”

All we need is another housing collapse over unpaid mortgages.

I want to add. Don’t gripe when Republicans sign a measure to bail out airlines, travel industry and cruise ships to the tune I heard this morning of a $50-100 billion or more.

Mitt Romney has got to be the stupidest man in the Republican Party. And this fool was the GOP nominee in 2012?
No surprise he lost to the Kenyan.

There are currently 247,814,000 adults in America. He’s proposing to give away over $247 Billion. Mitt needs to be examined by medical professionals.

“Speaking of which, don’t Mormons store food? That’s nice, but I’ll bet they’ve got toilet paper stashed, too. “

Ya, it turns runns on stors into just an other minor bump.

Sheesh! Talk about spitting out ideas before you really think it through!

Not every adult needs money. The rich will glide right on through this "crisis" and probably make a killing on the stock market when it rebounds.

The only ones who would really need some assistance are those put out of work by some governor/mayor/etc who mandates the closing of businesses.

If he’s going to do this then why a thousand for everyone. Shouldn’t those with more bills get more money?

I would think it is a good idea. Problem is that Mitt is supporting it.
