Attorney General William Barr voiced his support on March 11 for the passage of the House bill reauthorizing the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
The attorney general said that the bill plugs the gaps in the current law, which allows for the surveillance abuses identified in the DOJ inspector general report on the departments spying on former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page.
The bill contains an array of new requirements and compliance provisions that will protect against abuse and misuse in the future while ensuring that this critical tool is available when appropriate to protect the safety of the American people, Barr said in a statement.
Barr said the bill includes several provisions put forth by himself and FBI Director Christopher Wray in response to the inspector generals report. The FBI is already implementing a range of reforms in response to an order by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.
President Donald Trump told Republican lawmakers earlier this month that he would not support a reauthorization of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) without reforms to prevent the abuses that took place during the 2016 presidential election. It is not clear if the reforms the House FISA bill includes would be satisfactory to Trump, who has said he wants to make sure that the surveillance operation used on his campaign doesnt happen to a future candidate or president. The White House did not respond to a request for comment.
A pair of conservative Republican lawmakers close to the president slammed the House bill on March 11, leaving open the possibility that Trump may eventually oppose it.

Does nothing about the criminals who used deliberate lies in a FISA affidavit in support of a coup attempt.
Heavily supports renewing FISA.
He’s a laughable swamp tool.
Hes a laughable swamp tool.
That’s where I am at with Barr. That makes Durham one, too.
Why not? No problem here... /s

bill barr-jeff sessions redux.
I guess the Dempanic is a good time to March on Washington like night of living dead.
The pandemic justifies declaring ‘Martial Law”.
Arrest the traitors in every fed govt dept.
Enforce oversight control over the MSM, Google, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Dox the never-trumper/DNC funded trolls.
Then .....
You guys may as well go all the way and throw Trunp in there too. After all, you know more than he does
Once the government has found a way to spy on you, to monitor what you are doing, to control as many aspects of your life as possible, only a fool would believe they would give up that power.
This is nothing more than window dressing. The ability to get a warrant and spy on you, without any defense being presented goes against every tenant of our legal system. The FISA court should be disbanded and warrants to surveil someone need to go through proper legal channels like other request to monitor someone’s private conversations and movements.
Because the DOJ has become unmoored from the Executive Branch and the Constitution.
Andrew McCarthy was on Lou Dobbs tonight and to paraphrase what he said:
Passing more laws will not cure the FICA problem because the problem was/is that the FBI as well as others were /are not following the law. Pass more and they break them as well unless you severely punish those who break the law.
So in a nut shell, the problem is not the way in which the law is written. The problem is that we are not enforcing the law as written and until we do, nothing will change.
All they need to do to cure the problems with FICA is to put a bunch of guys in jail for enough time to get the attention of those in power.
The Deep State wins again. If they feel threatened, they will release a deadly virus and crash your economy for cover for action. They don’t care.
Unless and until there are prosecutions for previous violations there must be no support for continuing the FISA FARCE.
Im so happy the criminals at DOJ are independent. That way they can police themselves.
Barr sucks.
Starting about two months ago I began seeing Barr in a different light. Having given him the benefit of the doubt,it started to become clear this fellow has no intention of reforming anything.
President Trump needs to throw him out and appoint an acting AG that will get the job done. An Acting AG can by law serve 210 days. That should be enough time to bring ringleaders in the Swamp to indictments.
Rudy Giuliani is right there waiting with evidence in hand to do what Barr should have been doing.
No justice, no FaISA!
Why do we need a new law? Nobody got punished for flouting the old one. Why are they wasting time on a new law they will ignore?
230 days until the election. We may be stuck with Barr for another three weeks.
“the bill plugs the gaps in the current law,”?
Crappola.
The transgressors who abused FISA has yet to be held accountable.
WHY?
Cause the whole federal gub mint is horse crap.
