Yes. ACE2 receptor expression in lung tissue. From the tissue studies I have seen the top two highest expression ancestries for ACE2 lung tissue receptors are 1) Japanese 2) Han Chinese. Way at the bottom are African Black ancestry and a rung up are Northern European ancestry. The difference is large. 3 to 4 times higher expression in the lung tissue in East Asian ancestry.
This virus binds to ACE2 to break through the cell walls and get into cells to infect them. Lower ACE2, and less chance of getting it if exposed and if you get it less cells infected so less severe or so go the theories.
I can not vouch for the studies nor theory, but this is out there.

Correct. In fact the only thing we do know about this virus is from other countries who we can probably trust as far as how many died. But the great unknown is how many catch it and either never know it or have such mild symptoms they never get treatment and simply self medicate.
When S Korea, Italy France start to see slowing perhaps then we can get some sort of a handle on the actual death rate although without knowing the unknowable i.e. total number contracting the disease we will NEVER know.

I think everyone wants to hear certain things they want to know. However when they have these Corona updates news conferences it doesn’t help when the media cuts out half way through as they keep doing. All of them did so. Therefore we get half the information even though the team has answered the questions.
I’ve learned the White House site answers a lot.
If we *knew* the death rate was 0.1%, and the % needing hospitalization was similarly small, and equidistributed by age, we wouldn't have to worry about one subset of the population flooding the hospitals and overwhelming them (Same kind of applies to R0).
But it doesn't.
So the alarm ringers are trying to get people to be proactive individually, in order that the whole of society benefits. There's that chart of the two bell curves, one all bunched up, which overflows hospital capacity, one which spreads out in time, which peaks just below capacity.
The other thing is, lots of people see the pandemic as an OPPORTUNITY to advance their agendas. Like Never-Trumpers and Nancy Pelosi.
And then you have all the Iranian bigwigs getting it, and the head of Hezbollah, too.

Your first point is my main point.
Your second point is not important because my understanding is the AssH8le Iranians were licking walls or some such nonsense to prove (they thought) that Allah would protect them. It didn’t work out and I’m not concerned about dead Iranian gov’t types.

Why?? So we can all panic and insist that Trump at least act like he is panicking so the rest of us will panic even more? What more can be done? Investors are panicking and people are losing some of their savings. Stores are being cleaned out of toilet paper because people are panicking. Maybe everything can be closed down to instill more panic. I don’t know. Maybe we could ask the media to spread more panicking headlines but they are already doing it as best they can.
