The 24 stores are ones that have been closing throughout the country.
$15 minimum wage.
Stores are facing stiff competition from on-line retailers. Fedex and UPS and Amazon are doing gang buster business.

The silver lining is that 1,200 people have been incentivized to get out of New Jersey. Could be the best thing that ever happened for them.
Like NJ is business friendly. I’m surprised the governor didn’t force the stores to remain open. You can’t even pump your own gas in NJ. They force gas stations to hire attendants to do it. Then again, the progressive morons in NJ would probably set themselves on fire if they pumped their own gas.
Phillipsburg Mall on rte.22 in P Burg has closed. The only remaining store is a Kohls which is actually a separate building. This mall has been going downhill for at least 10 years and the reason is probably on line shopping and the inability to compete. There really were no problems with bad actors hanging around the place. It was not such a bad place to shop at one time as it was never overcrowded and had some decent stores.
So the supply lines from China really isn’t a good economic plan. Gee, Trump told you that.
Many of them are popular chains, too,
Dumbest line in the world. If they were popular they would not be closing.
I admit I buy a lot of stuff on Amazon, but it’s usually odd stuff that I’d have to drive to the next town and shop around for. I rarely buy clothing on line, but then, I like to buy expensive brands at thrift stores. I buy a few staples on line from Wal-Mart, but that doesn’t effect their bottom line, except they pay the postage.
The stores in South Jersey that I recognize haven’t been doing well for a while now.
The increase in minimum wage might’ve pushed them over the edge.
Not a problem. Just raise taxes.
Democrats!!!!
Retail deserves to die.
Great news! I trust states like NJ continue to have companies leave for ‘red’ states.

1. Internet/Online and other forms of competition. 2. A national issue not restricted to New Jersey. NJ not likely to be affected either more or less than national markets generally.
