Palaeontologists have announced the discovery of organic material in 75-million year old dinosaur fossils. The team claims to have found evidence of cartilage cells, proteins, chromosomes and even DNA preserved inside the fossils, suggesting these can survive for far longer than we thought.
The researchers, from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and North Carolina State University, made the discovery in skull fragments of Hypacrosaurus, a duck-billed herbivore from the Cretaceous period. These particular specimens were nestlings, meaning that at time of death they werent yet old enough to leave the nest.
Inside the skull fragments, the team spotted evidence of extremely well-preserved cartilage cells. Two of them were still linked in a way that resembles the final stages of cell division, while another contained structures that look like chromosomes.
The next step was to check whether any original molecules or proteins could still be preserved, and to do so the team conducted two detailed analyses on other skulls from the same nesting ground, and compared the results to samples from young emu skulls that are (obviously) much more recent.
The first was an immunological test, which involves applying a substance that will react if it detects antibodies from a particular cell type. In this case, the test reacted to antibodies of Collagen II, a protein commonly found in the cartilage of animals. This, the team says, suggests that remnants of the original proteins are still present.

Amazon will have Hypacrosaurus’s available for Prime members by the end of the year. Great gifts for the kiddos for Christmas, and if there is a delay they can go into the Easter baskets (although you made need to get a bigger basket)
I figure I probably have about 30 more years if I’m lucky. Three weeks if the virus goes big. Anyway, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if some sort of Jurassic Park became a reality in my lucky lifetime scenario.
But for amino acids, a thousand years
is STILL a thousand years.

The earth is in quasi-equilibrium now, but it was in massive catastrophic discontinuity during the Flood.
“Life, uhh, finds a way.”
I think the collagen in Nanzi Pelousy’s face is
75 million years old...
To God a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day.

Sounds like you are a big fan of “magic”.
DNA breaks down fast on a geological time scale. Probably makes them 5000 years old or less.
“The implications of potentially finding DNA in these samples are huge. Current thinking says that DNA can only persist for about a million years maximum but these fossils are 75 million years old.”
Other scientists theorize that it proves the dinosaurs ARE not that old.
To me It takes a lot of faith to rely on carbon dating to date something one hundred million years ago.
It takes a lot of Faith to create a “scientific fact” derived on 0.00005% observation.
Time will tell.
Could just be some slime or mold that attached and grew on that rock.
And you know this how? It sounds like you dont have the guts to admit we dont yet know. Why that would even take guts I have no clue. Myself, if it has been proven to last a million years the odds are very very high that in rare but still plentiful cases it can last 75 to 100 million.
Here are the possibilities:
* The Dinosaurs are NOT 75 million years old but lived more recently ( this changes the way we look at the dating of the age of Dinosaurs ).
OR
* The DNA of dead animals can survive 75 million years or more.
Any more possibilities you can think of?
Extremely difficult to believe something can last that long. The fact that there is only a tiny bit of DNA means that there was decay of DNA in the animal tissue. A recent study of the extinct MOA bones of supposed ages of 600 to 8000 years old indicated dna half life of about 500 years or so . maximum time when all DNA strands broke is 6.8 million years old. Should be none left by 60 million years. Undetectable.
Oh, it was from THAT website...
Yes. Either the article or the “research” is absolute screaming bunk. We went through this years ago when a paleontologist claimed to have found soft tissue in a dinosaur skeleton. In this case, whatever specimens they have are so chemically contaminated as to be rendered totally meaningless.
Mary Schweitzer—yes, that’s her—”collagen” from a Science Weekly article of 13 years ago. She’s recently been honored in the taxonomy of an extinct bird.
Her last name means “Swiss”, just like Peter Schweizer, who’s gleaned so much dirt on the Biden Crime Family.
I’m reminded of the scientist who found “bacteria” on a meteorite.
Turning the magnification from 30x seemed to disquiet the discovery.
Sounds like evidence for one species transitioning to another species is lacking.
What means “proven”?
Sounds like evidence for a Deity is completely absent.
