The school had to do this after a student complained that there were too many white people in the center.
The Cavalier Daily reports:
U.Va. clarifies that the Multicultural Student Center is open to all members of the University community following calls of ‘racial intolerance'....
In order to foster the diversity of experience and ideas that make UVA a great and good place to study and work, these centers are open to all members of the University community,” the University wrote in a statement. “They complement existing student-focused spaces such as the 1515 Building on the Corner, opened in March 2017, and Ern Commons in the Alderman Road residential area, opened in March 2012.”

I wonder if it still exists. Maybe the owners should open up a second place called "The Ecru Spot" right next to campus to see what kind of hilarity ensues.

The Board of Visitors (sort of like the trustees) allowed the so-called Black Bus Stop (c.20 years ago) to fester and the rest has been history.

I’m confused. I thought that “Multicultural” meant not white or Asian, the same as “diverse” means not white or Asian.
They should defend why they spent money to even build a “multicultural center”.
Back in the days when universities were respected, we had things called “student unions” that welcomed all.
But back in those days, we actually had professors who were smart.
And small administrations.
And NO “we love diversity because - just because” crap.
Either you qualified to be there or you did go (unless you were a Kennedy or some other corrupt felon).
Oops, that lasts sentence should be amended to”...or you did NOT go...”
Seems these days on campuses across the nation, nobody does racism better than racial minorities.

Always someone causing problems. Wish we could take them back to the 1950 era when there was race issues. We have come so far, but I know it will never be enough.
Had a discussion with a friend the other day and she brought up white privilege. I just looked at her and she said what. I told her if we were in the 1950 then yes I would agree there was an issue. And no matter what happens there will always be people in any race that will hate someone in another race. It is life! We are human!
Yes, he would roll over in his grave if he knew what some of the offshoots of his efforts had resulted in.
He might not agree with us on some things, but what is going on today is not what he had hopped for > IMO>
The white students were simply demonstrating their wokeness. There were so many woke whites that they displaced the persons of color that they needed to be seen among. Self defeating.

This, or the multicultural center, being the multicultural center, was the one student union with a food court with good food choices. Maybe they have excellent curry, Jamaican jerk chicken, and burritos there.
