Barr: Trump's tweets make it 'impossible for me to do my job'

Attorney General William Barr told ABC News in an interview aired Thursday that President Trump had never asked him to do anything in a criminal case but advised the president to stop tweeting about the Justice Department, saying it makes it “impossible for me to do my job.”

The remarks are a significant and rare public break by the attorney general from the president, following days of controversy surrounding the Justice Department’s decision to lessen a sentence for Trump ally Roger Stone after the president tweeted about his displeasure with the gravity of the original sentence recommendation.

“I think it’s time to stop the tweeting about Department of Justice criminal cases,” Barr told ABC in the interview.

My best guess is that this is mostly kabuki theater designed to remove the ‘Barr is a political hack’ charges from the Dems when indictments come around. It’s even conceivable that he and POTUS may have discussed making such a statement ahead of time. In the meantime, the public is more educated about the injustices of the Roger Stone case thanks to POTUS’s tweets.

Barr is right. Trump should let Barr do his job.

Yeah. Just like Trump let Sessions do his job. And we all know how THAT turned out.

Barr is right in this case. The President has a right to be mad but I doubt Barr was going to let stone get unfairly whacked by Mueller prosecutors. Apparently they lied to Barr and his people so the President should have trusted Barr without commenting. All of this makes it seem like Barr is doing the bidding of Trump directly under corrupt means and we know that the media and Dems are trying to get rid of Barr and thereby Durham and his investigation

If Barr refuses himself on any case, Trump will fire him in a heartbeat.

I did.

Someone posted this in part:

“The President aalways has the power to issue pardons or commutations. Beyond that, he should let his Attorney General do his job.”

to which you in part responded:

“The president also has the power to command his AG.”

I asked command to do what. Seems pretty straightforward.

“One has to wonder why Barr didn’t tell the president this in private, instead of on Fake News ABC?”

Exactly.

Tired of talk. It is time for indictments. It is not about revenge, it is about justice.

Could be, but sometimes people try to read something into a situation when the answer is right there without any convoluted thinking.

I think Barr is publicly saying that its difficult to do his AG job when he is responding to daily fires that arise from uncoordinated tweets from his boss. Taken at face value, one can see how that might become frustrating, especially since he is fighting against the enemies of DJT and is expected to deal with the nonsense from Capitol Hill.

As to why he did this publicly and not on a back channel phone call, I dont know. Maybe it helps support his position that he is not in cahoots with POTUS to throw cases.

There has not been an indictment of even one significant coup plotter. Barr has better PR than Sessions, but the clock continues to run and the major and mid level players continue to walk the street and making millions. Is his real job to help Trump or to make sure that the depth of the conspiracy is never exposed? Is Trump getting too close?

If President Trump had not Tweeted, the DOJ would have done nothing about this injustice. I’m sure they wish he would not Tweet, but thank God he does. Sunlight!

Barr is right.

Be ready for incoming.

In fact - you may be related to AG Barr!

Have you ever had dinner with him?

Speak up!

I’m fine with Barr saying this. He’s right and it creates (real or staged) separation between Barr and Trump that muffles the leftist whining.

My guess...Barr ran this by Trump to gain some separation, and to get the Democrats off of his back.

_______________________________________

Yeah? If so, he got the democrats off his back. And us conservatives on it.

Barr has been the A/G for over a year. Where are all the indictments, arrests and reports on criminal democrats?

Instead - he appears to be too busy covering up DOJ crimes against Trump allies. And now complaining that Trump is “interfering”.
