Bob, last week I was talking to spouse about the rate of increase, etc.

I went to the archived Agenda Free News broadcasts...they are on YouTube...They put the numbers on the screen daily.

So last week, I looked and found Jan 17 numbers...that seemed to be the earliest archive—but it was enough for me to see at that time—such a change.

Steve Lookner, the anchor w/ Agenda Free News, gets his numbers from BMO* news, so they are probably archived farther back.

This is their twitter feed. Tho I am not a big tweeter, Twitter seems to be the place to get the most current info....Reddit is good too...

Lou Dobbs, Fox Business News is now reporting same numbers for today...

It would be interesting just what our govt estimates the real severity. There a lot of ways for them to come up with a somewhat accurate number.

As I replied to D1, so far, the spread into countries outside of China, which data I tend to believe, seems well controlled at this point - remarkably so, in fact. The question is whether a “breakout” somewhere will occur.

Outside of China, this seems to be contained well. There are only 2 reported deaths and fewer than 600 cases.

For me, the big unknown is South America and Africa. They may not even have test kits and may see no upside to obtaining them. There could currently be pockets of infection which are fully unreported. Other countries would not even be aware that quarantine efforts should be employed for incoming travelers from these areas.

The death rate is still rock solid at ~2.2% to ~2.3% that has not changed in two weeks, no matter what numbers are reported or what protocol of diagnosis is being used. The primary improvement is in those recovering.

Well, Illinois is now starting local testing because they expect more cases.

Makes sense w/2 major airports and a large Asian population...

“Regardless of what is or isn’t happening in China, if caronavirus was spreading here as in China we’d have hundreds if not thousands of cases. I can’t explain it.”

That assumes an ‘expected’ growth profile. What I’ve been thinking about lately is that the virus lays low, for a long time, and then breaks out. Just speculation, but if that were the case, it could help explain why China thought they could control it in a low-profile type of way...and them, kaboom!

And keep in mind that only a very, very, small number of people in a city like Wuhan (as large as it is) actually travel outside the city, much less outside the country. So if this crap started in Sept. or Oct., it may have been quietly building in Wuhan until December, when all hell started breaking loose.

looks like they are using CT scans because of a shortage of test kits

If you go to the gisdata link and mouse over the individual ‘dots’ on the graph of cases you can see what the number was for a particular day.

Said it before ... old enough to worry about this
Too broke to think that I can do anything other than hunker down and wait for it to pass ... I can do that for a while but bills need to be paid so I will have to have interaction w Humans in person
Oh Well (may change my mind in the future ... doubt the Banks or Tax Collectors will)
Getting Sick and Surviving will be #1, The Next Battle = Banks and Tax Collectors because you have been sick and survived ...

We’ve been at this awhile in China- started slow in December then it gradually increased. It takes time for it to pop. We’re hoping to buy time to contain and prep.

2nd case in San Diego just confirmed.
