Former New York City Mayorand potential 2020 Democratic presidential candidateMichael Bloomberg called efforts to legalize marijuana "perhaps the stupidest thing anybody has ever done."
Speaking at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, on Tuesday, Bloomberg said on the subject, according to WBNG-TV:
"We have a different kind of problem in America, for example. Last year, in 2017, 72,000 Americans [overdosed] on drugs. In 2018, more people than that are OD-ing on drugs, have OD'd on drugs. And today, incidentally, we are trying to legalize another addictive narcotic, which is perhaps the stupidest thing anybody has ever done. We've got to fight that, and that's another thing that Bloomberg Philanthropies will work on it in public health."

I agree with him.
As long as we have a social safety net that covers pot heads for their drug use, I am against it.
And any crime committed under the influence should be considered premeditated.
We should also have a torture penalty.
Bernie’s people are going to be furious about this.
If you want to nip inebriation in the bud then arrest five year old girls for spinning around. (All female pot addicts started out on the gateway high known as dizzy.)
Well, California legalized pot a few years ago, and it hasn’t stopped his insipid advertising dump 24x7 out here.
A hypocritical politician? Oh, the horror!
The people in my circle were all working. Including two math professors.
The term narcotic originally referred medically to any psychoactive compound with sleep-inducing properties, and euphoric properties as well. In the United States, it has since become associated with opiates and opioids, commonly morphine and heroin, as well as derivatives of many of the compounds found within raw opium latex.
But sometimes it has a narcotic like affect on some people.
I no longer support the usage of pot as I once did. From what I have read, pot is much different now than it was back when I imbibed. The THC content has increased significantly.
That cost him millions of votes.
Well, he just lost the Youth Vote.
The erf just stopped rotating. One thing I can agree with him on.
Used to be we could always find some common ground with the other side - somewhere.
On this topic, I couldn’t agree more!
I dont know, and I admit I dont...
Don’t have any use for the potheads, they’re scum.
And, bragging about my intellect is unseemly. My brother, who was brighter than I, was a pot smoker, to the exclusion of everything else, spent his entire life stumbling from low rate employment to welfare and back. Got an UD out of the Army for drug use.
He died at 44. He's in the Florida National Cemetery, near Gainesville. Buried as an indigent. Have a nice day.
Its a violation in NY depending on amount.
Didn't think I'd say I agree with Little Mikey on anything...
Smoking anything is bad for you. I just don’t. Never did. I run marathons and I cage fight. I love beating people up.
That’s exactly what I saw. It also makes men docile and effeminate... they get a sort of PMS when they can’t get weed.
I can’t really agree with the comment from the headline. Yes, I agree that legalizing pot is a VERY stupid idea, and almost the stupidest of ideas, and pretty much the most stupid thing a politician can do. The problem is, it is obvious that Mr. Bloomberg has never met Justin(e) True-dope!
Where do I start with stupid things emanating from True-dope and company? His gubmint makes a gubmint run by even AOC, appear intelligent and insightful.
Amongst a plethora of stupid things coming from True-dope and company, how do you rank them? To be fair, it would seem that EVERY idea coming from the Prime Mistake of Kanadahar is INCREDIBLY STUPID! I do not believe that he, or his Cabinet is capable of ANYTHING that is NOT stupid. The actions of his gubmint give stupid people a bad name!
So he will flip flop like he did on stop and frisk.
Half of all Freepers now Bloomberg supporters.
I support him in the next midget-tossing event.
