"I just keep waiting for Pocahontas, or Bernie, or one of those lunatics to promise to pay off credit card debt as well."

They won't do that because too many ordinary schmucks like us have credit card debt, and their payoff schemes are only intended to benefit the future elites, not the average person.

Kicking someone’s ass does come to mind when I think of (Warren) Liawatha.

She should be too ashamed to stand up on stage with a straight face.

Googled the young lawyer. She has two google reviews, which do not bode well. But she’s off to a fast start in her own law firm:

What a massive price to pay for so few votes! I have a problem with student loan debt forgiveness as I think it rewards a compromised if not corrupt college system. Setting aside the gross unfairness of student loan forgiveness, why do colleges promote higher education without advising students of the true cost due to lost wages and risks associated with their chosen profession? I’m sure this student was sold on a law degree based on potential earnings or perhaps a desire to change the world. But did she do any research about supply and demand? I’ve seen many people with law degrees not actively working in the legal profession due to the excess of attorneys applying for a relatively small number of jobs and/or the financial inability to fund a private practice. Did she ever consider this outcome before signing on to debt that would buy a nice home in many sections of America?

There is no enforceable restrictions on what students can buy with the money received in the form of a student loan. Some buy fancy cars, live in non-modest apartments, take non-modest vacations, eat expensive meals, buy expensive clothes etc. Many have wealthy parents. But student loans are the easiest to acquire, because you don’t need collateral, you don’t need income, etc. It is all based on “future” earnings potential, and the government backs the loan if not paid by the borrower. So banks love giving out student loans, and universities love them because more students enroll and the university can hire more staff.

Hillary went through what seemed like a 15 year phase wearing clothes that looked like Chairman Mao’s.

I have no doubt they have more in common than that.

Yeah, well here is my plan and it doesnt cost the taxpayer a dime.

Colleges benefitted from this scheme and should pay. Use college endowments and real estate sales to pay off the student load debt. make colleges underwrite the loans in the future. Problem solved.

The average salary for lawyers in the United States is around $121800 per year. Salaries typically start from $58648 and go up to $252952.

And those salaries for lawyers would vary significantly around the US depending on the cost of living in various cities and states. And this woman's debt probably reflects the cost of things where she went to school and will work, so her earnings should be in a comparable range with those costs.

I bet there are many young lawyers around with large student loan debts.

I do think there should be some serious study done concerning the high cost of higher education, but that's no reason to start forgiving student loan debt.
