The call took place well after he was a declared candidate. This theory does not hold water.
Um, but Biden officially declared his candidacy (April 25) only a few days after the current president of Ukraine was elected with something like 70% of the vote from a population tired of corruption.
Sooo, I think old Joe saw the handwriting on the wall as far as the possibility that the new administration in Ukraine might perhaps have some different thoughts on his son’s activities there than the outgoing administration did.
Will our "long national nightmare" ever end?
It strikes me as a little man trying to seem important. Is there a littler position in the U.S. than Vice President?
What would such a life line look like? I don't think one could exist. How do you prevent him from putting his foot in his mouth all the time, stuttering and stumbling, and having endless senior moments that turn into senior afternoons?
“How is that contest going to work out?”
Not many years ago, I would have said LANDSLIDE for freedom, liberty and prosperity.
Now, I’m not so sure. Two or three of nefarious education has made many Americans into government tit-sucking leeches who want free stuff and want to be freed from making any tough personal decisions about their own lives.
Yep, that makes him the third person too.

Biden
Seems to me there was another, bit I can’t recall right now.
Plus I think the demoncRats know it's over, and why not give Biden a chance.
Nope not as long as DJT is POTUS. IMHO.
Or unless DC gets nuked. AKA deloused.
“What will the DS do to take Biden out?”
He’s already sleep-walking, but still hasn’t figured it out. The results of the early primaries will wake him up and finally tell him that he needs to spend more time with his grandchildren.
Mostly, it would entail sabotaging his opponents, like Hillary has been doing to Bernie. It could be the media passing him debate questions like Donna Brazil did in 2016. Or fundraising against him, endorsements and support by deep pockets within the party. It also includes their coordinated suppression of anything related to Burisma, PrivatBank, BHR Equity in China, and other reports of corruption. Rest assured that were these scandals attached to Bernie instead of Biden, the media would have buried him and the party would have abandoned him, if not prosecuted him.
Making Biden a better candidate is a tall order. They tried it with Hillary and failed, so they used other methods to get her past the primaries. If you see the NYT doing investigative work (publishing leaks from FBI/DOJ) about Biden's corruption, you will know the party has cut him loose.
Good point, Verginius. And thanks for historical name. I looked it up and Lucius Verginius Rufus was a patriot who respected We the People of Rome.
Are there any audiobooks that cover his life or dramatize it?
Cheers...
The question was asked “What could Biden say that would cost him the Nomination”
I provided an answer.
The quote was not intended to be from you
Good thoughts. Agree 100%
Of course. He is showing off for his buddies at the CFR. Being braggadocios, letting them know what a big shot he was. You know, the kind of behavior Trump always gets accused of.
Beside, he figures he's untouchable.
Yeah, I guess you are right. It’s like challenging a 90 yr old voter to a push-up contest
Joe should use the song in the campaign while it lasts.
I knew that. I never missed Hee Haw. A little too sophisticated for me but I loved it anyway.
Thanks very much for the link. Brings back memories.
Only if it’s flushed away by a tsunami of blood.
Yes, the original Verginius Rufus demonstrated how to be a good man in corrupt times and how to put the welfare of the country ahead of personal ambition. I remember hearing about him first from a professor. There is material about him in Tacitus’ Histories, in one of Pliny the Younger’s letters, and in Plutarch’s Lives of Galba and Otho, and there have been some scholarly articles on him but I don’t know if he has been the subject of a book. Tacitus gave the eulogy at his funeral. He was consul 3 times which was extremely rare for someone who wasn’t a member of the imperial family.
