Hong Kong infectious disease experts are urging the government to take “draconian” measures against the spread of the deadly new coronavirus from the mainland Chinese city of Wuhan, citing research estimating that 44,000 patients could be infected there – far higher than official figures.
University of Hong Kong academics on Monday estimated that the number of patients in Wuhan had reached 43,590 by Saturday, including those in the incubation stage of the virus, which causes pneumonia.
Mainland authorities have put the number of confirmed cases across the country at about 2,800 as of Monday, with the death toll at 82. Hong Kong has eight confirmed cases of infection.

The Chinese are driving non-corona patients to clinics where they are packed in with actual corona patients.

In the US, possible patients are sent home with orders to stay out of the public until symptoms expand and obsolete SARS testing shows a corona virus.

Never let a perfectly good crisis go to waste.

i agree. And all flights should be providing masks and goggles to all passengers.
At least until we know if the patients that flew to the US, infected any other passengers.
If they didn’t, then maybe we can relax some.
It’s far, far beyond those BS numbers. Anything coming from China’s gov’t is totally unbelievable.

And don’t order anything on Amazon.com if it comes from China.
When is the last time 56 million people have been put under quarantine?
Someone posted (on another thread) that 80% of our Rx meds, dispensed here in the USA, are from China.
Do you stop ordering/accepting those, too?
I’m sorta prepared to quarantine my 16 member extended family. When you begin to stock pile food, sanitary needs, gas for the generator, etc. for sixteen for 45 days it will cause you to realize what a task the Chinese face. I have a self contained septic system and 35,000 gallons of pool water. What happens in China if food distribution, electric, water and sewage workers are no longer available to support 50 million?

Perhaps better yet, only U.S. citizen passengers allowed on direct flights to U.S. and then only after a 14 day quarantine at some "secure" international site. Indirect flight passengers could be identified by passport entries and similarly quarantined. Few, or no humanitarian exceptions recognized.
Worse case "lifeboat" scenario: U.S. borders closed to civilian entry.
