House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., seemed giddy Wednesday as she announced the impeachment managers who would go to the Senate and attempt to prosecute a case against President Trump.
Hes been impeached forever, Pelosi said. They can never erase that.
However, Pelosi has it exactly backward. The Senate is going to refuse to convict President Trump. He will be exonerated, and she and the Democrats will be condemned by history.
The wide repudiation of the House Democratic betrayal of the Constitution is already beginning. As a historian myself, I think its important to document these reactions.
Consider historian Victor Davis Hansons analysis for the National Review, which was subtitled: The new normal: Impeachment as a routine partisan tool, endless investigations, lying under oath with impunity, surveillance of political enemies, zero accountability.
This is hardly an endorsement of Pelosis trivialization of the Constitution.
Abraham Lincoln scholar and highly respected historian Allen Guelzo asserted in The Wall Street Journal:
[Charles] Pinckney and [Rufus] King might have been right in 1787. Americans prefer to choose their presidents with elections, and whenever impeachment is used in an attempt to nullify those choices, the results arent happy for anyone. That was true in 1868, and as both Andrew Johnson and his accusers might warn us, it remains true after a century and a half.
Clearly, Pelosi did not know enough history to understand the warnings of Pinckney and King or the sad end of the impeachment process against President Johnson.
When he was interviewed by Arun Rath, Harvard law professor and ACLU liberal Alan Dershowitz commented:

“”Their demonic agenda: to destroy everything associated with the name Trump””
It’s much more than just the name Trump. His election put their train back on the tracks and they are going forward with their true agenda of bringing down the United States. You have to see it with the people who are being elected to Congress. We have always had weirdos but we are into the deep weeds now with communists running for office who aren’t the least bit bashful about their leanings - in fact proud of it and liberals don’t bat an eyelash.
This is NOT our country any longer - nothing in it represents anything resembling the country we were born and raised in.
I hope Giuliani is scarce during anything to do with the Senate trial.. The president should know to keep him at a distance now and probably forever!
The Victors write History. Name one time when the Left was ever condemned by History. Even Hitler became Right-Wing through the
MSM narrative
I get your points but the presence of John Roberts makes me uneasy, if not queasy. There are also enough squishy GOP senators making noise that I cannot completely discount some sort of trouble ahead. Even if Trump is exonerated (and I agree with you that he will be in the end) any unnecessary prolonging of the proceedings could produce some negative fallout that sparks other mischief.
This unconstitutional travesty should be summarily dismissed but I fear it could drag out for awhile thereby effectively legitimizing this farce.
I should rephrase that.
I’m like you. I’m not worried about him getting kicked out.
But I agree with you on all of the other points.
Oh, they'll nominate one after 2020, but it won't go well. By 2024 Soros is likely to be dead (I figure it will be a "lone gunman" from one of the eastern European countries he's helped screw) and some of the other rich leftist a-holes will either have preceded him or be rotting in prison. I'd be surprised if a major "3rd party" effort on midterm seats doesn't get fired up in 2022 and really hit hard in 2024 and 2026. And, as I've said, imho Biden will be the nominee, he'll pick Buttplug as his running mate, and Sanders will die before the convention.
FACTS!
Right. Sure it will.
I would like to believe that indictments of high-level democrat criminals are in the works - but I have my doubts. We are in the 3rd year of President Trump's administration. The courts recently exonerated Hillary. The AG has not investigated nor held a grand-jury of any elite democrat.
Until I see different, the cynical believe that 'the law is for the little people' seems to ring true.
50 yrs from now very few will even remember Pelosi and anything she did or didn’t do. The same goes with the rest of her gang.
“EVERYONE who is honest knows she is doing this as a form of vindictiveness because he party lost”
Maybe she waited to release the documents so she could sign on the day Trump signed the China trade deal?
> “I would like to believe that indictments of high-level democrat criminals are in the works - but I have my doubts.”
Rudy Giuliani invented RICO and he said there is a RICO investigation. Those with doubts are likely listening to fake news or others in the fake news echo chamber.
> “We are in the 3rd year of President Trump’s administration.”
Irrelevant.
> “The courts recently exonerated Hillary.”
Not true.

The propaganda that nothing was found was a blatant lie. Also it involved a non-governmental entity Judicial Watch.
The DOJ is saying nothing about her emails. Doesn’t mean they are not investigating.
> “The AG has not investigated nor held a grand-jury of any elite democrat.”
We wouldn’t know even if there was an investigation and grand jury. These are secret and can only be known by us if there is a credible leak. Those with solid government experience say that AG Barr’s investigators are as tight-lipped as they come.
> “Until I see different, the cynical believe that ‘the law is for the little people’ seems to ring true.”
Those that refer to the ‘little people’ have issues that go beyond an informative discussions.
Well Bert, they don’t teach ‘Newt’ and his books in school do they? Newts readers graduated on average 40 years ago
I’m sure she did- maximum scumminess on her part
I just want it to bring them back into the minority where they belong.
Really good article. Thanks, jazusamo.
