If you listen to Republicans, the impeachment of President Trump is a “bizarre strategy,” a partisan political blunder by the Democrats, doomed to fail in the Senate, and already backfiring. As evidence, the “hit job” has energized the Republican base, boosted GOP fundraising and, come November, will cause House Democrats in Trump districts to lose re-election.
To think House Democrats actually believe Trump committed impeachable offenses grossly underestimates their political acumen. The Democrats regularly run circles around the Republicans. While the latter jumps pieces on a checkerboard, the Democrats are thinking three steps ahead, looking to checkmate the king.
The Republicans mistakenly believe the issue is always about the stated issue. They ignore political strategist Saul Alinsky, author of Rules for Radicals, who stated, “The issue is never the issue.” For Democrats, impeaching the president has never been the issue. The issue is the 2020 election.
Here’s the political map facing the Democrats. The economy is roaring, unemployment is at an all-time low for black Americans, Hispanic Americans, and women – key Democrat voting groups. Trump is hugely popular with his base, attracting enormous crowds at rallies. He’s moving his agenda forward, getting trade deals done, expanding the economy, building the wall, destroying terrorists.
What do the Democrats offer voters in response? High taxes, open borders, gun confiscation, abolishing ICE, uprooting the electoral college, restricting free speech, a Green New Deal, free health care for illegal aliens, scrubbing bail for crimes, and more – all loony left issues that scare the bejesus out of middle America. Making matters worse, the leading Democrat presidential candidates are a bust, uninspiring talking heads who can barely muster a respectable crowd in far-left districts.

Except that isn’t happening and isn’t going to. Trump’s base doesn’t care about the Brown Shirt Media. In fact Trump’s base loathes them. So the only people who pay the Brown Shirt Media any attention are already addicted to the Kool Aid. The media whores would do well to learn from heroin pushers. Once you have them hooked you can throttle back on the Active Ingredient.

Make that headline “So Many Republicans are RINOs.”
A couple days ago, I ventured over to yahoo.com (yeah, I know) just to see how left they were these days on their Trump reporting. Landed on an impeachment article about Nancy not sending it over to the Senate. There was not one comment that didn’t laugh at her and they’d handed Trump the election on a silver platter.
The author is right. Impeachment is NOT the issue. This entire Schiff Show is NOT about President Trump. If it was, the Senate would have voted to remove him already and Mike Pence would be in the Oval Office.
This really is all about a classic power struggle between the Dems in the House and the Repubs in the Senate.
President Trump is just the pawn they are using to try and gain advantage.
The Republicans have a chance to redeem themselves next week at the farce impeachment trial. If they fail to defend the President the GOP will deserve the fate that all feckless cowards have received down through history: Extinction.
And the Impeachment Charade is about taking the Senate.
I agree with Van and Rev. Al that there is no one on the Dem stage that could take on DJT.

Democrats fight dirty, Republicans “fight fair.” When will Republicans realize that Democrats think that Republicans are fools... and they are if they don’t fight back.
It’s not that Repukes are gullible. It’s that many of them in Congress are vulnerable if there is a real investigation because they’re part of the Swamp Cabal, and just as guilty of treasonous crimes against this country as the Democrats are!
