Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam issued a state of emergency on Wednesday that bars any weapons from the Richmonds Capitol Square from Friday to Tuesday, after he received credible intelligence that hate groups and armed militias are planning violence at next Mondays Lobby Day against gun control legislation.
Northam, who discussed the threats at a news conference, said the states law enforcement analysis found that the chatter on the internet and other venues mirrored similar messages seen around the time of the 2017 Charlottesville "Unite the Right" rally, which left three dead and more than 30 injured
The governor declined to give exact details about the threats and the persons making them, but said that these groups, who were coming from outside of the state, talked about storming the Virginia Capitol.

So it turns out that the emergency declaration is explicitly illegal by Virginia law.

"...except to the extent necessary to ensure public safety in any place or facility designated or used by the Governor."
I do think there would be an issue if the governor started mass "designations" of such spaces throughout the state. But on statehouse grounds...I think the law does authorize that.
Well, we all know the answer to that, don't we?
If only tarring and feathering was still acceptable.
“he received credible intelligence that hate groups and armed militias are planning violence”
BS. Sounds like Adam Schiff has let his imagination run away with him again, and he’s been contracted by Northam.
“The governor declined to give exact details”
He hasn’t pulled them out of his ass yet.
I’ll bet it’s fake, probably an excuse to call up the National Guard and flex some muscle.
But he’s making sure that his successor will have a banana republic to rule with an iron hand, just like Jefferson, Washington, Henry, Jackson and other proud Virginians would have loved. What a legacy./s
Sure. But that motto was forever tarnished at Ford Theatre.
All things considered, the right to trod upon the rights of others was not a cause worth shedding an Illinois politician’s blood in association with, especially since it bestowed upon him an unearned sainthood. Lincoln did do many tyranical things, but during a real state of emergency. Not some ginned up Reichstag fire like Northam is doing. But now the Latin motto is tarnished, despite its applicability. Perhaps I could work it out in ancient Greek for you later tonight, when I’m at a computer with the right fonts.
"...in any place or facility designated or used by the Governor, any political subdivision of the Commonwealth, or any other governmental entity as an emergency shelter or for the purpose of sheltering persons"
We're not talking about emergency shelters.
Lincoln broke the constitution multiple times to get what he wanted.
You are correct, He was right to end slavery.
Did you know there was union plans to assassinate Jefferson Davis. This I believe was approved by Lincoln.
Alls fair in love and war. $hit happens. Booth was a horses @$$.
PS Im from northern stock.
“Everyone who shows up should be given a big rubber dick to throw at the capital building.”
Ha.... Ha.... Ha..... Ha.... Ha..... Ha.....
No specific color either, just big giant schlongs coming from all directions.
That’d be friggin hilarious.... prolly get charged with penile assault or some such.
The president has the authority to activate the Virginia Guard and make it a federal issue. When the president activates them, they no longer act on the Governor’s desires.
I bet POTUS does this.
I’d like to see video of the poor SOBs assigned to the post rally cleanup
Most of the activity by the left is based upon deception. They are the masters of false flags.
Is that a Rem 700BDL?
You are VERY wrong about that. The nation is following this closely. They may not show up to our party but they are worried about the outcome. Several states have been hit with this exact tactic and nearly identical language in the proposed laws. We are the test case.
“...Slavery was an unworthy cause for the South, but states’ rights are a real issue to this day, and once again the Democrats are on the wrong side of it. ...”
I had a Civil War history professor phrase it regarding states rights & slavery - “Right principle, wrong application !”
Yeah. . .shur. . . . .
