Garrett County is as wild and rugged a territory as you’ll find on the East Coast. Much more like West Virginia or the Great Smoky Mountains than what you think of when you say Maryland. Unfortunately the folks there are captive to the idiots in Baltimore and the D.C. suburbs when it comes to taxes, guns, environonsense, etc.

The Maryland 6th Congressional District stretches almost 170 miles from Potomac, Maryland to West Virginia.

The Democrats whine about gerrymandering but when it benefits them they are all in. This district stretches like it does, disenfranchising the Western Marylanders and ensuring the DC liberals living in Montgomery County are the ones who determines the representative.

Let Garrett, Allegany, Washington, Frederick and Carroll Counties in Western Maryland also join West Virginia. And the Maryland Eastern Shore Counties can join Delaware.

Well that is how WV became a state in the first place.. WV section ov what was then VA didn’t want to secede from the Union, so they broke away from VA and became their own state....

No reason to not welcome more of VA into WVA...

If this ever became serious, I think you would see a good bit of western and central VA be willing to seriously consider it, especially the crazier and crazier and more and more influence NOVA is having over the state government.

Actually there is a reason. It's the US Constitution.

It says no state may be subdivided or have part of a state given to another or made into a state without that state's permission. That will surely NEVER happen.

WV was a loophole. Virginia had left the Union. As the price for readmittance they were forced to acquiesce to the independence of West Virginia.

Spend a lot of time in Alleghany County and would gladly join West Virginia given political climate in Virginia driven by Fairfax County.

Eventually, everything west of Harper's Ferry and south of I-64 will want to join West Virginia. What remains of Richmond and the DC suburbs can petition to join leftist Maryland. The decent people in Maryland are mostly on the Eastern Shore or in the panhandle. They can petition to join West Virginia and Delaware, respectively.

What remains can absorb DC and change their name to the People's Republic of Maryland-Virginia.
