They haven’t gone 2nd amendment sanctuary yet, why not? I get the impression that they are all retirees from NOVA and DC.
The northern parts of West Virginia near Pennsylvania had been mostly settled by people from Pennsylvania, I think. They were behind the effort to separate the western counties from Virginia. Some of the counties in southern West Virginia did not participate in the 1864 US election--as far as the people there were concerned, they were part of the Confederate state of Virginia.
The two easternmost counties of West Virginia (the northernmost part of the Shenandoah Valley) were originally not part of West Virginia but were added a little later. I've heard that the reason was so that the B & O Railroad could collect insurance money if there was damage during the war--which would only be true if they were part of a loyal state.
I love Frederick County. Thought about retiring there before Govs McAwful and Coonman ruined the state.
Oh I don’t know. Liberals are so insane I bet if you convinced them they were all redneck trump supporters in those counties they would happily let them go

Is it just me or is there a rising interest in counties around the country expressing a desire to escape the destructive influence of liberal dominated states?
Seems to be an idea whose time has come, and for good reason.
It would make it even more difficult to win VA.

There are still a few of us conservatives left in Fairfax County. But we’re badly, badly outnumbered.

I was thinking (with a Korean DMZ type buffer), somewhere west and south of the DC area, seriously needs to be reunited with the original VA/West VA boundary jurisdiction.
They could call it Free Virginia, or even Virginia (forcing the lawless anti-American left-wing totalitarian globalists in the Northeast DC area to change their name, or something...
Then re-establish our actual Constitution, law, and liberty!
The rest of Virginia should not be forced to pay for our own enslavement to an utterly debased immoral and global leftists elite! It’s just wrong!
Nor should we lose access to the Atlantic.
I think that is going to HAVE to happen, to prevent the upcoming civil war / revolution. The tyranny of the large cities over the rest of their respective states can only be fixed by segregating the cities into their "own" states. It would be best for all if we at least corralled the Leftists into their own areas, and eliminated their stranglehold on the remainder of their respective states.
We know a few families, who left N. Virginia in the DC area and retired in the Winchester, Va. an independent city located in the northern portion of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States.
They love it there. Their only complaint is getting from there and back from Dulles.
I have a better idea, but I’m not sure it’s legal. And that would be to have an electoral college in every state for the County’s to all be equal.

My wife’s family lives over 100 miles SW of Chicago down to a couple of hundred miles away.
With the exception of the university, they are surrounded by great conservative people like them.
Let Garrett, Allegany, Washington, Frederick and Carroll Counties in Western Maryland also join West Virginia. That would be a great area to retire and live in.
The Demonrats would never stand for that, but why should one or a couple (or a minority) of counties hold an entire state hostage ? Nobody forced countless people to move to a single urban county, and the Founding Fathers didn’t want a single county as such dominating a given state (hence the Senate giving equal weight to every state regardless of population).
New Jersey should also annex New York City and Philadelphia.
In California, have the state of Jefferson, and Inland state.
Let the libs control the coast from Marin County to Monterrey.
