TEHRAN, Iran (AP) Iranian state TV, citing a military statement, says the country unintentionally

For those who have followed the entire thread, the only reason why this happened was because the Mullahs planned to blame Trump for shootting down the plane. This lie became untenable, so they reverted to plan B.
i.e, fog of war
Remember, the Iranians often select for political reliability and religious fervor in their military, not competence.
Also, the US military has had some ugly experience with some idiot putting a system on automatic and cutting the man out of the loop. See the M247 Sargent York DIVAD air defense vehicle.
This is the second biggest mistake they have made, the biggest one is that they imagine they enjoy some special relationship with the Creator. I guess that one will come to their attention in a different way.
Yea, I ra shot it down! BUT WHY !!!! did/does an airliner or an airport operate when military hostilities exist right next door???? Shooting missiles too? Iran, the pilot, the airport, air traffic control...all have a part in this.
” But why was the Teheran airport even open under those circumstances?”
Because the Iranian leadership is operating basically in the terrorist mode. Civilian activities are literally below their radar. They don’t care.
It took 14 posts for someone to state the obvious?
Sad.
No one in my family will have landed or taken off from Iran. Unless those in the military as part of an attack.
I’m starting to believe Trump may beat Reagan, and win 50 states. As much as some people complain about Trump, it’s only the voter and his/her wallet in the voting booth.
*shrug* Innocent people died, emotions run high.
We’re Americans, we care about strangers, we seek accountability and justice.
My first thought was ‘Those sons of bitches!’. I won’t fault someone else for voicing those thoughts, but as soon as I, myself, calm down, I will try to pull the dialog back from raw emotion.
In a just world (sadly, not this one) an honest investigation would find the root causes, put procedures and improved hardware in place to prevent another incident, and if malice in found, punish the miscreants responsible.
In a just world...
Has anyone heard from Squawk 8888 lately?
If Iran would simply stay in its own nation, and quit screwing around with its neighbors, this type of thing wouldnt happen.
It tried to play big dog with us, and this was the result.
Sure wish Irans leadership would do some soul searching and alter their game plan.
I don't think the mullahs can help themselves.
This is doubly tragic, because, just think of how much better off Iran and Iranians would be if Iran would take the money, energy, and lives it spends on terror, nukes, and mischief, and spend 90% of that on infrastructure and development (refineries, more dams, and so on). 10% could go to a regional effort to suppress terrorism, give Palestinians* real jobs and homes, etc. (Of course this won't happen because it'd involve actual cooperation with Saudi, Egypt, Jordan, etc., but think of how much better off the region would be - much as Europe has mostly gotten past its thousands of years of barbaric conduct.) This would even benefit us to no small degree, and we could mostly if not entirely "get out", as most of the ME would prefer.
Iran could become, again, like Persia, a "great" country, at least regionally. But, no...
*This one is particularly galling: Not that I want to decrease employment opportunities for Filipinos, etc., working in ME nations, but, why have to import people of a different cultural and (mostly) religious background(s) who are not "oppressed", when you have people (mainly the Palestinians) you claim ARE heavily oppressed in your own back yard that you could give opportunities? Oh, I know, some of that is on the Palis themselves, but, still...
Yeah, I know "Kumbaya", and "Give Peace a chance" and all that, but so much of what Iran does is counterproductive and destructive to itself. And I am not saying Iran should not be able to defend itself from groups like ISIS - heck, Iran did a pretty good job in killing many of them... Unfortunately Iran fought ISIS not because ISIS were terrorists, they killed them because ISIS was a threat to the Mullah's ambitions, terrorism aside. If ISIS had somehow agreed to further those ambitions, Iran would have supported them to the hilt.
Some moron general was strung too tight on the night they launched the missiles and ordered the shootdown under some assumption that it was a lone US bomber.
Like we would send just one.
I predicted that Trump would be blamed just a few hours after the news broke. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3806402/posts?page=156#156
well, we think alike, sort of
You think General, I think Lieutenant.
I don’t think there was time to ask a General what to do
I believe that they accidentally shot down the Ukranian civilian aircraft. They actually thought it was an American plane.
Always trust a regime that will only do the right thing under duress.
Unintentional. Oopsie. Our bad. Yeah, tell that to the families.
