Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has declared she is “cancer free,” beating the disease for the fourth time after undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer in the summer.
The 86-year-old justice, one of the oldest to serve on the Supreme Court, offered the health update to CNN in an interview in her chambers Tuesday evening.
“I’m cancer free. That’s good,” Ginsburg said, with CNN reporting that she was “sounding energized and speaking animatedly.”

He cancer is in the body and tail of the pancreas. This is different from pancreas cancer in the head, which usually includes bile ducts and often spreads to the liver before it’s discovered. Her’s did not.
The operation for the tail is less intrusive and the chemo is more effective. The overall 5 year rate for stage IV body and tail is as high as 25%.
For Stage Iv pancreatic head cancer it is about 6-9%, with a median life span measured in months. For her’s it’s measured in years.
Early detection is the key. People who do not go to the doctor on a regular basis will find themselves dead before they even know it. There are few external symptoms.

Pre-clinical = animal only. Although, I'm to understand RBG is fierce animal at exercise and weight lifting, so there's that.
Sorry. No one survives all three of pancreatic, ovarian and lung cancer.

Looks like work on molecule called PJ34 that causes cancer cells to self-destruct is yielding some good results.
Cohen-Armon explained that the new study improves on a breakthrough made two years ago when the self-destruction mechanism in cancer cells was discovered.
“In research published in 2017, we discovered a mechanism that causes the self-destruction of human cancer cells during their duplication (mitosis) without affecting normal cells. We have now harnessed this information to efficiently eradicate human pancreatic cancer cells in xenografts (human organs transplanted in animals). The current results were obtained using a small molecule that evokes this self-destruction mechanism in a variety of human cancer cells.”
“It is important to note that no adverse effects were observed, and there were no changes in the weight gain of the mice, nor in their behavior,” she added. The mechanism acts efficiently in additional types of cancer, including types resistant to current therapies. The molecule is now being tested in pre-clinical trials, according to FDA regulations, before clinical trials begin.
Ruth won’t be able to say she didn’t have enough time to come to the truth.

In Aug 2019 she had 3 week radiation treatment and had a bile duct Stent put in.

Then recently IIRC she had some kind of relapse and they opened her up and I believe there was enough growth in that Stent that it was removed along with the growths and two stents were put in.
I thought I read last year she had a metastatic growth detected in her lung. Surgeons removed one lobe in her left lung.
