Reminds me a few years ago, mayor of Washington DC said her city could only accommodate actual Washington residents, and complained about homeless from other places entering Washington.

Sadly these cities with big homeless problems don’t have the political will, or knowledge of what to do about homeless people.

The majority of "homeless" are just bums who don't want to live within the norms of society. We used to call them by the romantic name of "hoboes". There are more now because of dim/socialist city policies allowing them to be there. Plus, many get fedgov wellfare checks and food stamps and State assistance, that they often sell or trade for their drugs. Where else do they get their money for minimal subsistence and drugs? They are not professional burglars.

At least "hoboes" had the decency to crap off the side of the train boxcar. Yeah, I know there are some with mental illness and Vets with PTSD from war. They are the minority.

How I ended up a conservative? One reason is that I interned for a homeless shelter here in L.A for my Stanford grad studies. Probably the 2nd biggest with endowments and budgets that was almost endless.

In 7 months, I learned the hard way these assholes are NOT homeless but 80% of them are just effing LAZY and DONT WANT TO WORK. I got a lot of heat for my results but I made my argument in a factual manner.

And they get FREE DENTAL AND MEDICAL. I still remember the USC Dentistry students were giving them FREE teeth cleaning which would have cost you close to $500 in the private sector. I saw it all.

Just a few miles up the highway from me. Actually, Middletown has been a place to avoid for decades.

Middletown, Ohio is an old steel mill town [AK Steel]. Was always a town of hard working blue collar guys who made a decent living at the mill. Lot of truck drivers hauling steel were from Middletown. Really surprised that the working people of Middletown are putting up with these lazy bums camping out on streets.
