The morning after Iranian missiles fell on bases housing American troops in Iraq, the president said no Americans were harmed and Iran now appears to be standing down.
[rest is paywalled -- and irrelevant anyway]

By the way, don't even bother clicking on the article. The headline already tells you everything you want to know.
“Truman Backs Away From Further Military Conflict With Japan.”
New Yorkers must be really stupid for reading that crap. When was the last time they were right?
Trump backs away
I just hate these people
When it comes to Iran’s nasty habit of attacking our embassies throughout the years, Trump provided a Pavlovian teaching moment for the Ayatollah.. Now instead of receiving a Democrat cash treat when they do so, they get beat with a hellfire stick. The only person as relieved as Trump that little damage occurred during the attack was the Ayatollah who produced this piece of theater for the benefit of his homeys at the terror mosque back home. He had to be fearful of what would happen to his operation if they actually caused casualties. Whew!.
Blessed are the Peacemakers.
> Trump Backs Away From Further Military Conflict with Iran <
A fairer - and more neutral - headline would have been: Trump Decides Against Further Military Conflict with Iran.
But I guess the Times cant even bring itself to do neutral reporting. Everything just has to have a slant to it.
Many comments on both sides of the political spectrum are quite premature — “Trump backed down” and “Iran lobbed some missiles to save face” etc.
It’s only been a few days since Soleimani was killed. I would not necessarily assume this is over. Certainly terrorists are known to take months and years to enact their revenge ... and Trump will do whatever he does in a time of his choosing.
Eisenhower walks away from Germany...
No surprise the lying scum media got it wrong again
The US can go to war anytime we like. Irans Leaders flinched last night, it worth taking some time to see where this might lead.
Contrary to lunatic notions of the Fake News, there is no need to rush to war here.
We’re back to the proxy wars with them- only without their (very competent) general.
Suleyboy dead at our hands and nothing more came of it.
Big win.
I wonder if Iran wanted a path out.
All was choreographed in advance (probably in some hotel lobby in Qatar) designed to allow Iran to save face and for DJT to keep the oil and financials from panic.
Nice try scumbags but it was just the opposite. Live with it dog breath.
” Trump Decides Against Further Military Conflict with Iran”
That wouldn’t be accurate either. More precisely, “Trump Responds to Futile Iran Strike by Increasing Economic Sanctions.”
There should be no question that America will respond to any Iranian effort that kills Americans.
Master Troll Trump. Man did he have everyone shyting in their boots the last few days. Now they get egg on their faces. He just pwned the Mullahs. Lol.
As edwinland pointed out, the last time the Times ran a semi-neutral headline involving Trump their batpoo crazy subscribers went ape on them and all threatened to drop their subscriptions.
The message is clear: This was a golden opportunity for trump and he seized it. I believe this ends a 40 year policy that failed at every turn.
Thank you Mr. President. This is your greatest victory and your legacy to the People.

Iran has two dead senior terrorists.
Iraq has some rocket holes in their turf.
We’ve lost nothing.
Looks like a win to me.
Carter failed with Iran and his ventures into Beirut
Clinton failed in his wars with Iraq.
Obama failed in his invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan.
Today, under President Trump, we win in Iran and the entire region.
