BREAKING: Iraq parliament votes to expel US military

BEIRUT (AP) — The latest on U.S.-Iran tensions (all times local):

4:45 p.m.

Iraq’s parliament has voted to expel the U.S. military from the country.

Lawmakers voted Sunday in favor of a resolution that calls for ending foreign military presence in the country. The resolution’s main aim is to get the U.S. to withdraw some 5,000 U.S. troops present in different parts of Iraq.

The vote comes two days after a U.S. airstrike killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani inside Iraq, dramatically increasing regional tensions.

The Iraqi resolution specifically calls for ending an agreement in which Washington sent troops to Iraq more than four years ago to help in the fight against the Islamic State group.

The resolution was backed by most Shiite members of parliament, who hold a majority of seats.

Many Sunni and Kurdish legislators did not show up for the session, apparently because they oppose abolishing the deal.

"The fact is that region has been at war since the beginning of human time just about. We can’t change that trend. The best we can do is protect our interests and even that is limited."

IMHO, the best thing we can do is get out and arm the side that's losing so they continue to kill each other.

We are in fact occupiers.

We have a force in Iraq flanking Iran, the primary enemy besides the Democrat party

That’s the point

They got in the same way the Democrats own the cities. If you live or have a business in a Democrat city, you donate and mouth your support for Democrats. Even Trump can identify with that kind of extortion, he was a victim of it for years.

No one will stand up to a terror boss. Everyone goes along with the strong man, everyone roots for the strong horse. Decades of the US trying to be civil snd going through unbelievable contortions to avoid torqing off Iran, even to the point of overlooking Khobar Towers, left no doubt in the locals’ minds that the strong horse was not the US but Iran.

This whole “Iran” issue is a proxy for the Deep state vs America “civil war”.

Trump knows this. Its better this way.

“Why the heck did we put a billion dollar embassy in that hell hole? Brilliant idea Deep State”!

Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State. She made sure her friends built it. I’m sure she got a pocket full of kick backs.

They’re using the money Obama gave them to put a bounty on Trump’s head.

Apparently, our embassies are now connected to a last American Out Switch.

No, they don't. Hollywood BS.

The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad is a military complex spread out over 100 acres with several structures and has at times, up to 16,000 people working there. It's the largest, most expensive embassy in the world. The logistics of wiring it up with explosives to self-destruct at the push of a switch is farcical.

I would bet though, it does feature a various assortment of paper-shredders, incinerators, and computer disk grinders.

CNN frames it as initiating a study to find a way to expel US.

CNN’s spin is not quite as anti-Trump, which is odd to see CNN pulling punches when it comes to DJT.
