A former Navy SEAL accused of war crimes by his colleagues denounced videos on Friday depicting their confessions painting him as “evil” and out of control.
The New York Times published video segments of Naval Criminal Investigative Service interviews with Special Operators 1st Class Craig Miller, Joshua Vriens, and Corey Scott on Friday, wherein they alleged Gallagher shot at civilians and killed an injured ISIS fighter. Gallagher and his lawyer, Tim Parlatore, told the Washington Examiner the videos have been taken out of context and are an attempt to relitigate Gallagher’s case in the court of public opinion.
“My first reaction to seeing the videos was surprise and disgust that they would make up blatant lies about me, but I quickly realized that they were scared that the truth would come out of how cowardly they acted on deployment,” Gallagher said in a statement. “I felt sorry for them that they thought it necessary to smear my name, but they never realized what the consequences of their lies would be.”
The interviews, recorded in 2018, led to the Navy charging Gallagher with war crimes. He was acquitted at trial in July of all but one of the charges, taking a picture with the corpse of a teenage ISIS fighter he was accused of murdering.
“As upset as I was, the videos also gave me confidence because I knew that their lies would never hold up under real questioning and the jury would see through it,” Gallagher said. “Their lies and NCIS’s refusal to ask hard questions or corroborate their stories strengthened my resolve to go to trial and clear my name.”

Indeed. The NYSlimes continues to live down to its reputation. The man was cleared of all but a menial charge. Pardoned for the menial charge by our president thus, making Gallagher a prime target for the military, Constitution and President Trump hating “media”.
No mention he was acquitted of the most serious charges, in a military court.
No mention that if Gallagher was convicted, the grounds for appeal would have been embarrassing for the JAG, based on what they could not possibly deny.
Standard deep state political operation. Use the NY Times or Washington Post as a mouthpiece, with leaks as the basis.
I am just very happy this seal can now retire with his good name AND full benefits!! I am VERY CONCERNED however that our NEW seals coming up are becoming a bunch of PC snowflakes these MEN were the best of the best with courage BEYOND courage most men and women have YET younger members of Gallagher’s team turned him in because they all felt he was to tough on them!!!

I do know it was a witch hunt but it is one that has become familiar. Once the bureaucratic machine has you in their sights for what ever reason they must find some way to hang you even if, or perhaps especially if, you are innocent of what they are charging you with.
They will never admit they made a mistake. Even if you are cleared they will find some way to denigrate you.
Law enforcement is awful when it comes to this but any government bureaucracy is filled with people who are both petty and evil by nature. And they can make your life miserable once they feel you are not giving them the proper worship due a "public servant".
Try crossing the what is laughingly called "child protective services" if you want to see what a totally out of control government bureaucracy looks like.
The military officer corps (all branches) needs to gutted to rid us of Clinton/obama promoted types.
