Good for Senate majority leader McConnell.

Chuckie wants bi-partisanship now that the shoes on the other foot. LOL!

The impeachment is more of a fish story than a fishing expedition.

Only if you plead guilty to treason, Chuck, and accept public hanging as your punishment. Then, and only then.

Majority Leader McConnell is right. Good for him. When he is right, he is right.

Chuckles - ‘more evidence is better than less’. Doesn’t make any sense. He should immediately go to Schiffty. He has the proof of Russian collusion.

I can see why the President would want "full exoneration" rather than a quick "not guilty".But IMO the Rats are gonna scream bloody murder regardless of what happens...removal is the only thing that will satisfy them.

I think that there's less chance for PR damage by a quick verdict rather than a drawn out one...there's too big a chance of an unpleasant, potentially damaging, surprise in letting the Rats call a dozen "witnesses".

Just my 2 cents' worth...

McConnell is getting high marks in my book. Unlike some past republican majority leaders, he pushes back and is counter punching. Wonder if he learned this from the master counter-puncher, Donald J Trump.

I'm going to take the contrarian position.

They've been meeting - Turtle and Schuck - for over a month.

Schumer's kabuki gives Turtle the impetus to file for summary acquittal, rather than let Trump have any trial, a trial which Turtle signaled on Oct16 that he would let run for months and completely disrupt the Donkey Cart campaigners if he didn't get his way.

All that is needed is 51 senators to vote for a motion to dismiss. That will be the end of this circus.

The senate is the place where President Trump must be allowed to call witnesses and cross-examine the swamp creatures that have been trying to railroad him.

Senate trial might be different, but the components of prosecution ought to relate to a normal trial:

1) Establish that a certain conduct has been defined as a crime under law.
2) Establish that such a crime has occurred on a specific occasion.
3) Accuse a Defendant of being the person who dun it.
4) Prove that Defendant did it beyond a reasonable doubt.

Charge One of Impeachment: Bribery. Is it “bribery” to ask the resident of a notoriously corrupt county to investigate/curtail corruption before handing his country US foreign aid? Obviously not. Was throwing in the Bidens of limits? No, the Bidens clearly need investigation. Charge One is without merit. Dismissed.

Charge Two: Obstruction of Congress. Refusing to comply with subpoenas issued without legal authority (full vote of the House) is not obstruction. The Senate has the authority to rule the subpoenas were requests with no validity. Charge Two is without merit. Dismissed.

Impeachment over. Time for an early lunch.

Just wait until some Dem screams about the “tyranny of the majority”, completely oblivious to what just happened in the House.

Thanks, Mitch. You’ve been richly deserving of a lot of criticism over the years, but here (and with judicial nominations) you’ve done a great job. Keep up the good work!
