NASA has vehemently denied that there are living "insect- and reptile-like creatures" on Mars, after a professor at Ohio University made the controversial claim earlier this week.
"The collective general opinion of the large majority of the scientific community is that current conditions on the surface of Mars are not suitable for liquid water or complex life," Alana Johnson, NASA's Public Affairs Officer, said in a statement to Fox News.
Johnson added that one of NASA's objectives is "the search for life in the universe" and with the upcoming Mars 2020 rover, the government space agency hopes to take the next steps "in exploring the potential of past life on the Red Planet."

""The collective general opinion of the large majority of the scientific community is that current conditions on the surface of Mars are not suitable for liquid water or complex life,""Hey, isn't that what they said about ice ages / ozone layer / global warming / climate change?

You don't need to go to Mars to find "living insect- and reptile-like creatures."
To: knighthawk
that current conditions on the surface of Mars are not suitable for liquid water or complex life
This is a lawyer-like "answer".
How about beneath the surface?

They might be able to deny THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF any insects or reptiles on Mars, but they don't know enough about Mars to make a blanket negative statement that such beings don't live somewhere on Mars.
In fact, the illogic of their statement (with which they are clumsily trying to prove a negative) makes me wonder what they are covering up.;-)

Ohio University emeritus seniletus professor William Romoser, who spent the past several years looking at a number of photos publicly available from various Mars rovers, including the Curiosity rover, made the controversial claim he had spotted a number of "insect-like forms, structured similarly to bees, as well as reptile-like forms."Probably a Democrat. Like Alice Democrats always believe in any number of untrue and impossible things like man caused climate change, like "renewable" (i.e. wind and solar) power will be able to replace today's power generation, like Hillary won the presidential election. like Stacy Abrams won the Georgia governor's race, etc.
