Justice IG to testify next month on alleged 2016 surveillance abuse

Justice Department inspector general Michael Horowitz will appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee next month to testify on a forthcoming report on alleged surveillance abuse during the 2016 campaign.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who oversees the panel, announced on Monday that Horowitz will appear publicly on Dec. 11.

Graham’s decision to schedule the hearing is the latest sign that Horowitz’s report is nearing its release. The GOP senator said earlier this month that he expected it within weeks.

“I appreciate all the hard work by Mr. Horowitz and his team regarding the Carter Page FISA warrant application and the counterintelligence investigation of the Trump campaign,” Graham said in a statement.

He added that he expected Horowitz to give a “detailed report” of his findings as well as make “recommendations as to how to make our judicial and investigative systems better.”

“I look forward to hearing from him. He is a good man that has served our nation well,” Graham added.

“IG whorwitz appointed by Hobama, no one will be prosecuted...that means no one”

It would be hard to concoct a more clueless post than that one. Horowitz led a band of IGs who sued Obama to force him to stop interfering with their investigations.

https://nypost.com/2015/10/22/revolt-of-the-watchdogs-federal-inspectors-general-vs-the-obama-stonewall/

“Last year, 47 of the nation’s 73 federal IGs signed an open letter decrying the Obama administration’s stonewalling of their investigations. The White House, they reported, had placed “serious limitations on access to records that have recently impeded the work” of IGs at the Peace Corps, the EPA and the Department of Justice, and jeopardized their “ability to conduct our work thoroughly, independently, and in a timely manner.”

“While defanging Washington’s most effective guardians on the public’s trust and tax dollars, the Obama administration has stocked the government with whitewash puppies who’ve compromised the independence of IG offices at the Department of Homeland Security, the Interior Department and DOJ.

“At the rotten core of the war on federal watchdogs: Obama’s Undermining Justice Department, which has distorted and destroyed the plain meaning of “all records” to sabotage the IGs access to damning agency documents relevant to their probes.

“Earlier this year in congressional testimony, DOJ IG Michael Horowitz exposed the Obama administration’s “continued refusal by the Department to recognize that Section 6(a) of the Inspector General Act authorizes the DOJ OIG to obtain access to all records in the Department’s possession that we need in order to perform our oversight responsibilities” as the office investigates the IRS witch hunts, the Fast and Furious scandal, and systemic public disclosure evasions. The FBI has repeatedly run out the clock to thwart IG document production requests and unilaterally claimed power to pre-screen and limit records disclosures.”

Dont forget.....just before Obama left, he issued an Executive Order that all 17 investigative agencies could talk to each other.

Here’s the problem....If the House sends their impeachment case to the Senate...say on Dec 10th, it won’t happen....Everything stops and only the Senate’s Role will be considered.

I’m not holding my breath. Horowitz doesn’t want to be “Epteined,” aka “Assisted Suicide-ed” for asking the wrong questions.

Graham is a Senator. Not an investigator. Not a prosecutor. Who is vested in prosecuting the law? Someone who is not interested in leaking to the press, so you and I may shut up and wait for the proper time.

Commitments do not mean a whole lot when one is not in control of whether the sun will rise.

“Remember Horowitz referred Comey for prosecution, Barr dropped that ball.”

A good find regarding Horowitz.

I don’t think that we know what goes on in the DOJ. We only hear about ongoing investigations when someone wants us to know.

Sometimes it’s someone in charge who is legally releasing information for a purpose, other times it’s a subordinate illegally leaking to serve an agenda. I think that most of the illegal DOJ leakers were caught about the time when the coup plotters were exposed. It’s been pretty quiet there for awhile.
