Jan to Oct average temp was 1.69 degrees F higher than the 140 year average.

Less than 2 degrees from the average means nothing to a climate that has always been changing over time.

It is not a trend, just statistical noise.

The facts that the US is shown as cooling and that it now has the Climate Reference Network ( By far the most accurate terrestrial temperature monitoring system ) and that it shows NO Warming since 2005 is pure co-incidence. Climate-alarmists-foiled-no-us-warming-since-2005

Your point about accuracy is very interesting and important. Theoretically, nations who have a vested interest in the Paris accord and Global Warming as a political issue could easily fudge the data they are supplying. They could easily add a degree or two to what they’re reporting. I’m not saying this is happening, but it’s certainly a consideration.

Yes as Tony points out this data is from computer models they don't have good measurement readings in most of the world.

They must not have read any temperatures in central Minnesota. We were extremely cold last January, February, and March. Many days this fall have been way below normal.

I like the temperature stations that are in parking lots next to Heat exchangers or HVAC units. But 50 years ago there was nothing there but a field.

Acknowledging that I’m not the brightest bulb, I’d like the wiser-than-thou climatologists to ‘splain to me what the right temperature should be, and why.

Until then, periodic records +/- of a hundred or so years worth of data seem informational at best.

We’ve already had a 20 degree day deep into Georgia this year, the ice was expanding around here.

The same question I always ask when this voodoo science comes back to the forefront: What happened to the last ice age when there were no people or capitalism to blame for the melt? Could it possibly be that the climate controls itself and works in cycles????????

You’re not suggesting they’d install a new asphalt parking lot or an outdoor air conditioning condenser near to or next to an existing official temperature monitor, are you? Oh no, that would be cheating and “they” would never do anything like that. ;-)

Global Warming as a political issue could easily fudge the data they are supplying.

Hate to break it to you but that has been happening for a long time. This is just one example do-the-adjustments-to-land-surface-air-temperature-data-increase-the-global-warming-rate

You might find this article interesting how-the-us-temperature-record-is-adjusted

In one particularly egregious example there was a temperature record from a station in South America (I think Argentina or Uruguay) where the raw data showed Temps dropping but the adjusted data showed it rising !

If this Astrophysicist is correct we need to buy some heavy overcoats and invest in Natural Gas The Solar Magnet Field and the Terrestrial Climate

Strange, only heat related extremes make the list???? Given the short time we have been keeping records one could expect to find hundreds of heat related records every day on planet earth...after all there are 365 days. One thing that is as sure as death and taxes; no matter how hot or cold the planet is in any given year, at the end of the year it will be considered one the warmest on record.

I’m thinking that the folks in the Northwest, primarily Montana, with below zero temps in October, will disagree!

That’s hard to believe. We’ve had all time record breaking cold temperatures in TX this fall and the summer was way cooler than it has been for years. Does no one remember the planting season had to be delayed due to cold weather? Did they somehow miss the early snows this year and the huge freeze that blasted across the nation recently?

It was 115 for a long time in 1980 in central TX. About 5 years ago, we had 100 days of 100+ temps. This last summer, it was a good 10 degrees cooler but the wacky lib weatherman in commie Austin swore every day there was climate change.

On record is the code words. I love how they put things like facts don’t count before they started keeping records.
