Im going to bet the sandwich guy is a lib whos been protesting and voting for this kind of police state for 5-10 years.
So the police officer warned this idiot, politely, that eating on the platform was against the law and asked him to put his sandwich away. Instead of obeying the officer, this idiot acted like a complete you know what. A few minutes later, the officer sees this idiot eating his sandwich again. He tells the idiot hes going to give him a citation. The idiot then escalates the situation by disobeying the law enforcement officer, refuses to give him his identification, and basically acts like a complete you know what. This guy deserved to be arrested, and it is shocking that people on this board support such lawless behavior.
17. Unless it is a shitsandwich.
Just goes to prove that badges should never be given to short, fat, stupid, morons.
If the guy he “DETAINED” had chosen to stay there all day and night, would the dumbass bart cop still be standing there holding his bag strap and looking like a drooling idiot?
Ok, we can all act like left wing demarats and only obay the laws we want to obay and only let those we like to also break the laws.
NOT
Too late. Already happening. Just wait until 2A “sanctuary cities” start ignoring federal law. It’s coming. You can bet on it.
If HE WOULD HAVE BEEN EATIN HIS SANDWICH WHILE TAKING A DUECE IT WOULD BE FINE
There is a rule, posted in all stations, no eating or drinking allowed in the stations and on the trains.
The rule likely exists because people leave food that attracts rats and other vermin.
The cop asked him to stop and he didn't.
We all have rules we agree with and don't agree with.
Should the cop simply overlook the violation? Which rules do you believe BART transit cops should enforce and not enforce?
Do you believe anyone should have the right to eating anything they want in the stations or trains?
Yes, some rules seem petty and annoying but they're there for a reason.
When we start letting people eat in the stations and on the trains and the rats start becoming a problem, do you believe the transit police should enforce the rules prohibiting eating in the stations?
It was a petty crime but enforcing it is better than a station filled with rats.
And I don't like the sandwich guy. He was deliberately being a jerk, likely to provoke the cop or force a lawsuit from the city. This is exactly how these race scams play out. He's just another creep looking for a 'racist' payout.
Amazing stuff. These cops never heard of police discretion.(Common sense). I guess they figure this was worth thousands of hits on this video, creating even more people who don’t trust or like cops.
Stupid...
Not just that, but when the cop went to write him the ticket, he pulled the “I’m not giving you my ID” gambit, which is only a step above the “I pay your salary so you can’t do anything to me” gambit. Once you are getting a ticket, you can try that, but it won’t end well, and that is what he was arrested for. If he had produced ID, he’d have gotten the ticket and been on his way. I guarantee you the cop didn’t give a fuck, it was a job to him.
These stories which go viral, off complete bullshit, and then there are tons of people online supporting the wrong representation of them feel off to me. Why am I seeing this story everywhere? Why are 95% of the comments about how wrong the cop was, how this guy is great, and how if it was me, I’d have shit on the platform in front of the cop because that would have really taught him a lesson?
And why are there so many conservatives here saying he should have pissed on the platform, or the cop looks like a grifter, or something similar. This was a hippie dude who ignored a cop’s warning, got an attitude, and then basically gave the cop no choice but to haul him in to ID him. What if he wasn’t producing ID because he was wanted on a Child Molestation charge?
Very often lately I feel like 60% or more of what I am seeing online is created, as if they have unleashed some sort of AI botnet writing fake comments that are totally wrong just to see what flooding all the forums with completely wrong information will do to the public’s ability to honesty resist real tyranny.
It really feels like something strange is going on.
Check your settings. The cop comes in loud and clear. He was holding the bag to detain him.
I hear the perp fine I can’t hear the police officer so I assumed the police was concerned over the bag and not the food. Why would a police officer want to arrest someone over a sandwich unless he stole it? It isn’t my settings it’s my hearing.. 60 db loss in both ears.. To much work around jets!!!
You have a lot of good points.
Everytime I’ve been stopped by a cop for anything, I do a lot of listening. I do not chose to argue. That can be done in the courtroom later. Years ago, I was (wrongly!) driving with an expired license and missing registration. I had other ID. I got pulled over for running a stop sign, and my status was discovered. The cop could have taken my car away from me right then and there. I remained calm and respectful. I acknowledged my error, and was preparing to walk to the nearest bus stop.
The police officer said ‘I’m going to move this car to the next street, and then I’m leaving it there. Oh..and the keys will still be in the ignition.” To my shock and relief, he was giving me a break! I took it, and said ‘Thanks!’ He pretended not to hear me as he was driven away with his partner officer.
Morale of the story: Sometimes it pays, to be calm and respectful in a stressful moment.
I believe I am among the “common sense folks” who
continue to reside in California but I am a typical
rural conservative who never gets discussed but is
lumped in with the urban libs. Yes, the California
situation is particularly egregious but I submit that
the closer you get to any urban area in the US the
more crazy things you find. I find it ironic how many
Democrat politicians proclaim that “no one is above
the law” when it comes to Trump and impeachment but
turn their backs on the law breaking engaged in by
illegal aliens. Those politicians aren’t all from
California. My point is the crazy factor is not
only a California thing but also an urban vs rural
thing.
I have read most of the posts on this thread and
many people point out that while SF cops allow
bums to shit and piss in public while arresting
the guy in the video for eating on a BART platform.
It is most likely that this incident did not occur
in SF but in one of the many suburban communities
that are a part of the BART system. The reality is
that laws not enforced in SF may be enforced
elsewhere.
Like the man said, bugger kids, bugger each other, shit in the street, walk around stoned, steal, open illegal weed shops, sell that azz on the street, shoot cops, piss in public, be an illegal alien who steals a gun and murders a girl on the waterfront, they act like it’s a Class 4 misdemeanor, if they even bother to cite it at all. “Oh, look! A squirrel!” Eat a sammich on a train platform? 3 to 5 in the state slam! No rights for YOU! Those donut-stuffed flatfoots ought to be ordered to turn in their shields and go work security at the local shopping mall, where they can practice their special kind of stupid for $14 an hour. California is the gaping rectal sluice of Planet Earth and an affront to three thousand years of human civilization. The next time a fault line gets a case of heartburn, I’m gonna go out there with a tire iron and crack that sumbitch open like a walnut.
He says it’s California state law. In BART’s apology, they noted that there is no eating in the “paid area,” whatever that means. I suppose it’s an area beyond a turnstile. I kind of agree with the notion that Californians—particularly in San Francisco—need to just accept the asinine laws created by the asinine people they love to elect, but concern for eating in “paid areas” is laughable in a city with a new DA who just condoned public urination and, presumably, defecation.
We were really establish that nothing in this incident was stage. BART has already apologized for the incident. The man was literally just trying to eat a sandwich and get to work. He was singled out and harassed and the second cop to arrive on the scene is caught on film blatantly lying.
I wish they’d taken the nightsticks to him; the Thirdworldization of this country is tiresome.
In NYC people are making a big stick about some South American peasant being arrested for selling churros on the subway. Unlicensed, uninspected, and I’m sure no W-2 was being issued...should’ve taken the sticks to her as well.
Help the fault along with a little dynamite.
The only thing Third World about this incident was the petty despot cops.
Perp? Really? Your use of that word to describe an innocent guy trying to get to work is very telling on where your mindset is.
