Chris Matthews Opens Up About His Battle With Prostate Cancer

For 20 years, political junkies of all persuasions have been tuning in five nights a week to watch Chris Matthews grill the day’s top troublemakers on MSNBC’s Hardball.

But it wasn’t until he was missing from the anchor chair for a few nights this fall that his fans learned why he’d gone MIA: The network announced that Matthews was one of the more than 174,000 men diagnosed with prostate cancer every year, and he had undergone surgery to take care of it.

Here, Matthews talks with Men’s Health about how he found out, what he did about it, and how he recovered from the cancer that will hit one in nine men over their lifetime:

3. Hillary Clinton’s biggest “turn ons”.

>>>Everyone I ever knew who died of cancer was grumpy unhappy and cynical.

Sounds like the end near for Bernie & his socialist freaks

I think his tingle is over unless he hits himself in the head with a hammer.

” ...happy kind people tend to live longer and healthier lives. Everyone I ever knew who died of cancer was grumpy unhappy and cynical.”

Now that is a truly provocative observation, FRiend webheart.

I wonder where that leaves me? On numerous threads, I’ve tried to get some of our fellow FReepers to calm down on various issues, noting that there’s a difference between healthy skepticism and the sort of cynicism that can easily morph into defeatism.

At the same time, it’s hard for even rational, good-natured people not to be depressed over the current state of politics.

What will be the consequences for our health?

Life would be pretty good if it wasn’t for our government and out media.

Wow. With that huge lack of kindness you posted, you may want to get frequent screenings...

Same here. My dad was truly a wonderful man. He was smart, kind and generous. He also never cursed. He died 5 days short of his 70th birthday of non- Hodgkin lymphoma. My mother, on the other hand, was generally unpleasant especially with her family. She lived to 100!

In the modern world, men apparently don’t matter as much it seems.

I’m a cranky old man trying to be nice to people. However, I have about an hour in the morning where I groan and growl. Then I work to be positive watch the news swear a lot and go to bed. My biggest self diagnosed weakness is being blunt. It is what it is. Lipstick, a dress, high heels, and a push up bra don’t mean shit. It’s a pig not a prom queen. :)

Not me.

The big question is did he have a comprehensive physical every year? If not then he has only himself to blame.

I dunno, somehow I just don’t care. It’s a 24/7 assault on our senses with the news of all the tough things that happen to celebrities. And often, as with Matthews, nasty, hateful, lying lib CelebuTards.

And us normals out here? We have our tragedies of health, love, economics, family loss. Yes! Did you know that we, the great unwashed, lose loved ones to disease and accident? Of course it is different for our betters up there on Mount Olympus.

After a while, I just don’t give a damn about people like Chris Matthews.

As usual, nothing is real until it happens to a celebrity and they become instant experts on the topic.
