Rogue River Blue Cheese, produced by Rogue Creamery in Southern Oregon, is an organic, cave-aged blue cheese that is wrapped in pear spirit-soaked Syrah grape leaves.
The Savencia Fromage & Dairy-owned creamery beat out some tough competition: More than 3,800 cheeses from 42 countries and 6 continents were evaluated by a panel of 260 judges in Bergamo, Italy this month.
"This is truly the greatest distinction a cheese can receive. What an extraordinary validation of our commitment to quality, the place that inspires our cheeseSouthern Oregon's Rogue Valleyand the excellence of the growing American artisan cheese industry, I am humbled and filled with gratitude," said Rogue Creamery President David Gremmels.

We con't call her Smelosi for nothin'...
All joking aside, I'm shocked the demoncRats didn't find a way to prevent this win.
It sounds delicious. Good to eat with some juicy Oregon pears.
It’s all part of MAGA.
Trump’s fault. :)
I give my dog a one-ounce string cheese stick every day. Every time he hears cheese being taken out of the refrigerator he comes running, and I have to “pay tribute” by giving him some. Cheese is fantastic food.
Not surprising, seeing what those things can do to a lion.
Not funny.
Grating wasn’t it?
When Americans focus on an industry we always make some of the best, if not the best, products.
The mere aroma reminds me of, shall we say, The Exorcist, if you get my drift.
I love good Blue Cheese. What a tremendous compliment.
Sharp pinconning....
A good blue cheese and a very ripe pear is one hell of a good combination.
blue cheese and a pear? Never had it together but sounds so delicious!
I do not like Gorgonzola. It’s about the only blue cheese I will pass on.
It’s absolutely scrumptious.
Well played, Sky. A little fermented curd will do the trick!
Actually the tasting is quite scientific. I know one of the judges who is actually a Trophy Judge (the ones that taste and decide the winner after the general judges make their decision). Each cheese has certain requirements that can be quantified and qualified. The judge I know had her company’s tasters tested alongside chemical testing and the tasters were able to match the chemical analysis.
Your right in that someone may prefer a different flavor.
A lot of judges taste the particular cheese before it makes trophy. The average person may taste no difference at all in the top 5 cheeses of a type but a judge will.
Which begs the question: how to tell if sour creme is bad?
I’ve had a number of different Rogue River cheeses and they’re outstanding.
