Romney-Gabbard, Make America Decent Again
Newsday ^ | October 25, 2019 | Antony Davies

Posted on 10/26/2019 4:10:40 AM PDT by Trump20162020

Senate Republicans could convict, or threaten to convict, thereby pressuring Trump to resign. They could even work out a deal by which they acquit in exchange for Trump not seeking a second term. Each of these options would leave the Republicans in need of a compromise candidate with very little time left on the clock. Republicans would need someone who understood the requirements of a national campaign, someone with widespread (and largely positive) name recognition, and someone on the record opposing both Trump and Trumpism.

Senator Mitt Romney is all of those things. Running Romney would immediately alienate the Trump base, but would attract voters from the sensible centers of both parties, along with independents, all of whom seem to be horrified by what they have heard thus far in the Democratic debates.

Romney could play this centrist position to devastating effect with just about anyone sharing the ticket, but there is one very shrewd move that would allow him to walk into the Oval Office in a landslide: Romney could pick a Democratic running mate.

But he shouldn’t pick just any Democrat. He should pick one with a growing national stature, one with the background to appeal to Republicans and Democrats alike, and one who has openly accused the Democratic Party of playing a rigged game in its primary campaign.

Mitt Romney should pick Tulsi Gabbard.

They agree on little politically, but that is a benefit. A Romney-Gabbard ticket could be based, legitimately, on decency, truthfulness and honor. They could point the American people away from the toxicity that has come to infect American political life, and remind us that we are not two countries seeking disparate futures, but one people experimenting with different means to the same end.

Tulsi is an antiwar leftist.

Gabbard isn't anti-war, she's anti-regime change war.

Romney: “Pierre Delecto”

Gabbard: “I don’t support impeachment (until I do).”

What was that about truthfulness and honor?

I won't listen to the asshats ever again, and vote for Pierre.

I don't care who's on the ticket with him, and no amount of'but otherwise the democrats will win' will ever change my mind.

As for Tulsi- Not voting for her either...

Under those old rules ... can you imagine what it would be like to have Hillary as Trump’s VP? He’d have to send her on “fact finding missions” and “goodwill tours” to the far reaches of the planet.

Romney as Obama’s?

McCain as Obama’s?

Kerry as W’s?

Gore as W’s?

Dole as BJ’s?

HW as BJ’s? (This would have been a good one to watch...)

We dodged some bullets.

Without a doubt, the dumbest and most delusional article I've ever read on FR.

The anti-Trumpers have completely lost it. I mean they're so far gone, they've even exceeded the progressive leftists.

Here is how I see it going down.

Romney jumps into the race. He tries to appeal to the center. Then, in a turn of events nobody saw coming an unknown new comer,
Juan Delictez jumps into the race as well. He immediately starts to erode Romney’s support amongst Hispanics. And then Romney demands a debate against Juan but is rebuffed by the Delictez campaign. It will be a mess. Finally, in an act of PURE POLITICAL GENIUS, Romney names Delictez as his running mate.

Meanwhile, Trump will watch with amusement as all this unfolds. But Romney/Delictez will declare victory as they hold a raucous campaign rally at the local Y in front of a cheering crowd of hundreds. Bill Kristol will declare a new day in American Politics as George Soros warms up his checkbook (well, it was already warm, now it is red hot). Nobody will notice or will ignore the fact that for some odd reason Delictez and Rome y rarely appear together and, when they do, Delictez seems almost mannequin like. Perhaps he is just trying to emulate Romney?

The final twist to all this will be when Romney/Delictez’s polling show that they are tanking with the LGBQT XYXPDQ community. Suddenly, Delictez steps up his joint appearances and starts wearing women’s apparel, as if he is a completely different mannequin. At one rally he will sit on Romney’s lap and speak as Romney appears to be stifling lip movement.

Finally, seeing this amazing political force strayed against him, Trump calls it quits.

Romney is an ass, and he will not be President. If the scenario in the article comes to pass, senators are going to have more to worry about than who they pick as their next candidate.

Standing to the side will be Steve Hayes and Jonah Goldberg with very troubled faces and drinking vinegar cocktails with a lemon twist. They will pen a few paragraphs for their 17 readers

It would definitely improve the Democrat field.
That said, I don’t think the Commie Pinkos the Democrats have been trying to appeal to would go for an old white man in magic underwear.

Running Romney would immediately alienate the Trump base, but would attract voters from the sensible centers of both parties...

This dummy didn’t calculate that half of the country voted for Trump and he has 90% approval among those voters. The Democrats will be running a candidate, too.

But he thinks Romney will have enough left over to win?
