In what appears to have been a routine patrol, 30 members of Mexico's National Guard were caught off guard and ambushed from an unsuspecting local house. After repelling the initial attack, authorities soon discovered Ovidio Guzmán López, son of "El Chapo" and suspected co-leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, hiding inside the home. Chaos quickly ensued as gunmen blocked streets with burning vehicles. The scenes that unfolded were reminiscent of a war zone.
“This is Guzman’s place? Oops, sorry, our mistake.”
MEXICO CITY Mexican authorities briefly detained the son of jailed drug kingpin Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán and then released the younger Guzmán back to one of the worlds most powerful drug cartels after gunmen took to the streets.Just imagine if the US arrested some notoious criminal (let's say Hillary, for example) and had to release her when her armed supporters took to the streets. The events Thursday were a remarkable display of the states inability to take on organized crime. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador explained Friday that El Chapos son, Ovidio Guzmán, was released to protect the lives of the people after the cartel deployed across Culiacan, the capital of Sinaloa state, and neighboring towns, taking over key highways.
Mexico is now a failed state. Precedent has been set, and the government has lost.
Doesn’t sounds as farfetched as it used to
That Ma Deuce was not easy to get along with the rocket launcher
This is what artillery is for.
Border wall now.
That’s odd. I mean one would suspect it would at least draw some attention. How often does a house, an unsuspected one at that, attack some Mexican National Guard hombres?
Maybe Irish Bob O’Rourke can take their guns away, for a warm-up.
Before it’s all said and done the US will have boots on the ground in Mexico. Might be years away but it’s gonna happen, IMO.
Coming to a barrio near you........
Not only did they release Ivan Guzman.
During the assault, 27 high ranking members of the Sinaloa Cartel escaped, or maybe released, from prison.
They can be seen walking out the front door and getting into private vehicles.

I’m sure a 120mm mortar attack would pacify these narcos right quick.
yeah... everyone talking about artillery and mortars needs to read up on SUCCESSFUL counter insurgency and urban combat tactics. want to create a bunch of additional cartel gunmen... start mortaring and shelling neighborhoods. the populace isn’t hostile and no counter insurgency of killing a bunch of civilians has ever worked.
Mexico would be much better off targeting (meaning, using deadly force) Cartel leadership AND their families... just like Israel has successfully done in the past.
“I can’t feel my legs, Kaiser.”
“The Usual Suspects”

Agreed, but it would take a less corrupt people & government to pull this off.
agree that the corruption makes such an op difficult at best. dope money is far too big a part of mexico’s economy and too many powerful hands in the cookie jar.
that said, it’s amazing how fast bad actors shape up when you start whacking the whole famdamily.
Does Mexico have an Air Force? They need to carpet bomb these animals.
Maybe by then, it won’t be a barrio...it’ll be a favela.
