Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer announced at a news conference outside the White House on Wednesday that they had just walked out of a meeting with President Trump on Syria policy, after he apparently called Pelosi a "third-rate politician" and angrily suggested the Democrats probably appreciated communist Islamic State terrorists in the Middle East.

Congress never authorized going into Syria, never took action under the War Powers Act to hold Obama accountable, looked the other way while Biden mismanaged it so badly ISIL nearly took over Syria and Iraq. Congress, the antiwar left, and the news media were wringing their hands uselessly over a war that killed up to a half million, created five million refugees, and gained nothing for it. Now after the war is over, they want to authorize staying in, when U.S. forces are mostly out of it, just to hurt the President at all costs.
What were they expecting? Trump to thank them for making a godawful mess and trying to keep it going?
