After a series of protests led by several radical anti-Israel organizations, the Portland Trail Blazers recently announced the termination of their relationship with an Oregon-based rifle scope manufacturer who supplies rifle optics to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
An assortment of various activist groups, many of which are affiliated with the anti-Israeli Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement, have put pressure on the Blazers to end their relationship with Leupold & Stevens.
According to Oregon Live:
Members of the Portland Democratic Socialists of America, Lutherans for Justice in the Holy Land, Portlands Resistance and Jewish Voice For Peace staged protests last year to pressure the Blazers to end their partnership with Leupold, which makes a variety of scopes, binoculars and rangefinders. The groups took issue with Leupolds work with the Israeli Army. Leupold has a contract to supply sniper rifle scopes to the Israel Defense Forces ground arm, and reportedly had at least 800 scopes in military service by the end of 2017.
The NBA is currently embroiled in controversy with China, after Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey tweeted a message of support for Hong Kongs pro-democracy movement. Despite a bipartisan backlash to the NBAs apologetic initial response to China, the league is fervently trying to make amends and has no intention of breaking off their business relationship with the communist nation. The DSA is also planning to protest the Blazers preseason game against an Israeli basketball team on Thursday night.

Theyve decided to partner with the Chinese armed police instead
And they will endorse Chinese ncStar optics, no doubt.
And just exactly how many dollars do the Democratic Socialists of America or these other groups contribute to the Blazers’ bottom line? At least with China there is a very lucrative market involved. In this case, where is the stakeholder interest among all these “woke” types? But this IS Portland, so some sympathy needs to be extended to management.
The vibe I’m starting to get off of these groups is a requirement for unblemished ideological conformity or else they will make trouble. A scope maker was probably not going to pass muster just due to the association of their product with firearms. Even worse if you are selling to the Israelis.
I’m just waiting for the Little Red Book to show to show up!
I bet next they will protest any grocery stores that happen to sell kosher food.
Who watches these freaks and criminals anymore anyway? I tell you who. People that do not have a life outside work. They spend their weekends glue to the boob tube wasting away.
The NBA has turned into an ANTI-AMERICAN HATE GROUP!
Another poorly written Breitbart article. Who ended the sponsorship Leupold or the Trailblasers?
Should change their name to the Portland Deniers, if you get my drift.
If you can't figure that out you ought to head over to Facebook and get your information from the other illiterates.
There is nothing unclear about what has been posted.
It's Trail Blazers, by the way. Two words. And a "z".
btt
That is OK. I banned the NBA from my house some time ago. It is disgusting.
Games, as in "not real life" but play, make-believe.
How does this change anything but make the Trailblazers look unprofessional and undisciplined as a political entity instead of sports team?
Business of all kinds, including professional sports organizations, should stick to their core business and leave the politics to the politicians.
Well, the NBA made my decision on whether to watch games this year. I will not be watching the NBA, will not buy any of their merchandise. They are officially dead to me.
Portland is not America
“If you can’t figure that out you ought to head over to Facebook and get your information from the other illiterates.”
“It’s Trail Blazers, by the way. Two words. And a “z”.”
You mad FW? Are you hungover this morning? Did you take my post as a personal attack? Do you work for Breitbart? In any case Kiss my @SS, and pointing out spelling errors? That’s always a winning move.
“Trail Blazers President and CEO Chris McGowan announced that the teams sponsorship contract with Leupold & Stevens, a deal that expired after after the 2018-2019, would not be renewed.”
Leupold is no longer a partner of the organization, McGowan said. I thank them for many years of supporting our organization. They were a great partner when they were a sponsor. But, for various reasons theyve decided to go in a different direction, so theyre no longer a partner of our team.
Where does it say the Trail BlaZers ended the agreement? What it says is that Leupold was a great sponsor but “THEY’VE decided to go in a different direction”. That sounds like Leupold decided not to renew the sponsorship.
Now theres an oxy moron...Democratic Socialists
Easy to stop watching the NBA.
I have just added the NBA to my list of organizations what are not worthy of my time or money...right under the NFL.
