A 12-year-old Kansas girl was arrested – as in, hauled out of school in handcuffs, charged with a crime, and was handed a court date – for making a “finger gun” and pointing it at fellow students.
According to the Kansas City Star, police in Overland Park “hauled her out of school in handcuffs, arrested her and charged the child with a felony for threatening” after the middle-schooler pointed the “finger gun” at other students before pointing it at herself.
Johnson County District Court documents obtained by the Kansas City Star claim the child “unlawfully and feloniously communicated a threat to commit violence, with the intent to place another, in fear, or with the intent to cause the evacuation, lock down or disruption in regular, ongoing activities.”
According to the news outlet, the whole thing started when a fellow student asked the girl “if she could kill five people in the class, who would they be?” The girl then allegedly pointed her fingers in the shape of a gun at several other students in the class. The teacher sent her to the principal’s office, where the school resource officer recommended she be arrested.
She was eventually turned over to her mother and hearing in the Juvenile Division of the District Court of Johnson County is scheduled for Tuesday. The child’s family was reportedly told that if convicted of a felony, she could face up to a year in a juvenile detention center.
Why are children still allowed to have fingers? And at school, no less! Where were her parents?
What they should have done, if anything, is talk to the girl about the rules against threats of any kind. A felony charge for this? The adults who did this should be fired.
Same here. Grew up in a Northern city and we would run around the neighborhood with our arsenal of plastic lever actions, sniper rifles, machine guns, pistols, etc. We would ‘shoot’ each other and if you got shot you’d have to count to 10 Mississippi or something. Bonus points if you had a cap gun and could make ‘real’ gun sounds.
Don’t believe any of us later became psycho killers. None of the neighbors had a fainting spell seeing us, or felt the need to call the police. They probably just enjoyed seeing lots of kids playing together...
Lemme see if I got this straight, middle finger, OK. Masturbating hand gestures, OK. Any hand gesture simulating sex acts, OK. Making a gun sign with your hand, NOT OK. Nor is the OK sign. Its sick out there and getting sicker!! All I know is if I ever flashed a middle finger in school I would’ve ended up with an ass whopping by the time I got home.
We would play cowboys and Indians (that’s RACIST!!), army, cops and robbers with water pistols. Our moms would admonish us in no uncertain terms TO NEVER point our toy guns at strangers or cops. Yet we grew up with a healthy respect for real firearma.
My middle daughter received a 3 day suspension for making a threat to another girl who was being a bitch. She told her that “life was like a wheel and one of these days you’ll get whats coming to you.”
That was the last day she graced their halls as a student. And we live way out in the dirt part of Kansas.

"Dirt" part or "city" part... There is no difference in government schools... They are uniformly bad, as are the so-called "teachers" (who are really highly trained propagandists)...
Instead of families (who have incarcerated their offspring in these indoctrination asylums) complaining, they should shut up and be happy that they aren't being jailed for criminal child endangerment...
Until neighborhoods of free citizens re-establish a public school system controlled by the neighborhood parents, the Nation's young, for the most part, are irrecoverably lost... Instead of things like "Future Farmers of America" we now turn out "Future Antifa Disciples of America"... Or worse...

The answer is that no one will take responsibility so they kick it up stairs to be handled. Having said that, if you do handle it locally and then something happens, then YOU are the guilty one because you didn’t tell authorities.

You just know grandpa and Daddy will have knocks on their doors with warrants to search the homes for any firearms for confiscation. Red flag laws appears to cover all family members and any premises they may have access to.
If I were the parent, I’d be in jail for beating up the person who called the police.

The only person responsible for committing a crime is the person who commits a crime, and that girl did not commit any crime. The girl didn’t hurt anyone. Everyone knows that, including those who run the game of fake extreme sensitivity out of their addiction to control. Beyond insanity
At my Catholic school back in the 60s, we did something like that daily. DAILY. Jeez, the school would have been emptied of boys before the midmorning recess.
