Three men were killed Friday night when they crashed a vehicle into a barrier activated by a security forces gate sentry at Robins Air Force Base, according to a base news release.
The Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the FBI have been asked to help in identifying the men, said Houston Coroner Danny Galpin.
The men had no identification on them, said Galpin, who was summoned to the crash scene.
The incident unfolded about 9:30 p.m. when a vehicle approached the Russell Parkway gate that is an entrance way onto the base, according the release.
The driver failed to stop as ordered by the gate sentry, who activated a security barrier when the vehicle sped through the gate, according to the release.
The vehicle hit the barrier at a high rate of speed, the release said.
Galpin said the barriers are down in the ground, but rise when activated.
The driver and one passenger were pronounced dead on scene, the release said. The other passenger was taken to Houston Medical Center, where he later died, according to the release.
Friday night after prayers. No ID. Yeah, this was SJS.
Very odd no explosion
Cars always crash with bombs on board
No one legit to be on base would blast through the gate
Nor would they have no ID. No one legit in civilian life goes around with no ID and doesnt travel with two other guys with no ID
I worked daily on an air Force Base for nearly 2 years. Had a sticker on my car, wait to get waved through. One time I thought I was waved through but must have been the car next to me. Loudest I ever heard anyone yell in my life! Stopped me and checked my sticker and badge for gdd measure then sent me on my way.
This was back in 1980.
“This is a tragedy which we all feel deeply at Robins Air Force Base.”
All? As a former 81150 I have my doubts.
...We will thoroughly investigate to determine the facts and circumstances and what can be learned from this tragedy, said Col. Katrina Stephens, vice commander, 78th Air Base Wing. Our thoughts are with the families of those lost.

Colonel Katy! 3 criminals just attacked your base and your “thoughts are with THEIR families”?????!!!!!. How about “your thoughts” being with the Air Force “families” your security forces protected??
Good!
Lol. It’s a note to self to read later
I'm calling BS also. Have worked at many US bases during the Obama years and security was pretty tight at all of them.
Granted, some tighter than others, but even NG bases required security clearance.
Democrats looking for their next fix....
The barrier is supior to being armed.
Hitting a speeding driver with bullets is unlikely while raising a barrier is infallable
One time, I breezed through the stop sign without a complete stop at the right angle turn a couple hundred feet ahead of a base entrance. The gate guard told me that it "would be a good idea to come to a complete stop at the sign". He said that hidden guards inside the facility were told to train their .50 cal. guns on anyone who didn't come to a complete stop.
Don't mess with our military, they've got important stuff to do.
What, you kidding me..? Three rats bite the dust and we're suppose to feel bad about it..??
When you come to a military gate and the man with a gun tells you to stop and you don't stop, well this planet is obviously much better off with you not on it....
Not without ID... No way....
Yeah... I'd say that's a pretty good clue...
It’s still weird that none of them had ID. I can see one forgetting his ID but all 3 seems deliberate.
Just saw this online while looking for an update on this story....
“A Colorado teen who helped tackle and disarm a gunman during a school shooting earlier this year has graduated Marine Corps boot camp, where he distinguished himself as platoon honor man.”
It’s sad that they died and no one knows what they looked like.
