Back in '73, as a first lieutenant at Fort Lewis, I was required to qualify on the M1911A1 .45-caliber pistol. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with the damn thing. The Range NCO had to lie and say I had qualified.

Fast forward 46 years. At the Memorial Shoot, I borrowed El Gato's .45 and hit the target like a pro. My shot group wasn't as tight as I would have liked, but Osama died just the same. Slowly.

He did good. I just wish I’d gotten a picture of the target. LOL! It only occurred to me afterward.

We’re waiting for that cold front too! A dry one is supposed to come through tonight and drop us from upper 90s to the 80s tomorrow. A wet one is supposed to come through Sun. and drop us into the 70s. That will feel SOOOOOOOO good! And we NEED that rain desperately.

Nobody knew who Osama was in ‘73. Ho Chi Minh was dead. We were short on target faces.
