John Bolton unloads on Trump’s ‘disrespectful’ foreign policy

Ex-national security adviser John Bolton on Wednesday ripped President Trump’s aborted plan to invite the Taliban to Camp David, saying the move sent a “terrible signal” and was “disrespectful” to the victims of 9/11 because the Taliban had harbored al Qaeda.

Bolton, speaking at a private luncheon, also said that negotiations with North Korea and Iran were “doomed to failure” on the president’s watch, two people who were there told Politico.

All the North Koreans and Iranians want is relief from sanctions to support their economies, Bolton told guests at the event hosted by the Gatestone Institute, a conservative think tank.

“He ripped Trump, without using his name, several times,” said one attendee.

Bolton also said more than once that Trump’s failure to respond to the Iranian attack on an American drone earlier this summer set the stage for the Islamic Republic’s aggression in recent months — including Saturday’s large-scale attack on the Saudi’s oil industry.

Trump wants us out. If we leave a void that something like ISIS fills and uses as a staging area then we will get pulled back in. So the goal is to find someone able to wield local control who is interested in working with us.

An example was Qaddafi in Libya before the Obama-Clinton wizards decided to kill him leaving behind a failed state. Qaddafi wasn’t our buddy but after Reagan tamed him he wasn’t our enemy and he managed to keep a lid on Libya.

Gatestone is very pro-Israel, so I guess that makes them "neo-conservative", but some might dispute whether "conservative" is really the best designation for them.

Bolton ran the place from 2013 to 2018.

The Gatestone Institute may be a lot of things, but a “conservative think tank” is not one of them. It’s a bunch of globalists no different than something I’d expect to see on William Kristol’s resume.

This report does mention that John Bolton was the former CHAIRMAN of that organization for five years before he joined the Trump administration, which says an awful lot about the information in the link I posted above in #36.

I was an early Trump supporter...and Bolton needs to respect the office.

However, of the 2 things he stated....is Bolton wrong ??

1. Horrible idea to invite Taliban terrorists to Camp David on week of 9/11 Anniversary.

2. When Iranians shot down 2 Drones there was no military response.

I think he is correct on these two items. Though, he should respect the President and the politics involved and be loyal to Trump.

For the record, I never liked this guy in any capacity. He's a warmonger of the highest order. He would be willing to send thousands of our men and women into battle just to advance his personal ideology.

The bigger farce is the fact that United States foreign policy (Reagan) created/funded the Taliban and Frankenstein’s monster has been biting us back ever since.
Trump was right in having a Pow-Wow, after all Trump is trying to fix the mistakes that were made in the past and trying to prevent the same Carter Doctrine BS that has been a staplepoint in our inept foreign policy since before Carter/post WWII.
