In debate, Democrats steer clear of economy (& abortion)

**SNIP**

So on Thursday, at the Democratic Party's first one-night presidential debate, the first opportunity to showcase the party's 10 leading candidates, what role did the nation's widespread economic anxieties play?

Almost none. The candidates simply didn't talk about it. (Nor did the ABC News moderators ask.) The word "recession" was uttered just once in the entire debate. (By Julián Castro, who noted the poll's finding of recession fears.) Nor was the word "unemployment" ever spoken. Nor was there a discussion of job creation. Nor was there much of a discussion of wages.

On the government side, no one, moderator or candidate, said the word "deficit." No one discussed the mismatch between the federal government's revenues and its spending. No one talked about the national debt.

There was talk about the president's tariffs, but beyond that, there wasn't much talk of the economy at all. Odd as that might seem, it was in line with earlier Democratic debates.

I cannot think of one regret I have in voting for Trump.

In fact, as a fellow NYer who believed for a long time that he would govern from the center at best, I am wildly enthusiastic about how he has governed and what he’s gotten and continue to get done.

Would like a few words on the deficit though.

Even if it’s rightfully laying blame at congress’ feet.

I’m thinking any REAL effecting change on the debt will involve some not so popular decisions and so it WOULD be smart to make those after he wins again.

Right after the debate, Mayor Pete tweeted a reminder that he very, very, very strongly favors abortion, and he urged everybody to talk about how important it is.

The Democrat Party 2020 POTUS Candidate Debate was a 100% farce and scam last night, from start to finish. FDR & JFK are turning in their graves!!! Not one decent, capable, competent, knowledgeable, serious, strategic thinking, candidate presented...period. Trumpie in a massive landslide win in 2020!!! Game over!!!

We can't say it enough. The 'Rats will try once more to steal the election. Count on it. They're already talking about changing the rules on the electoral college to favor them.

“.....Trumpie in a massive landslide win in 2020!!! Game over”!!!

I agree. The only way they could possibly win would be through massive voter fraud.

But after Trump leaves office....look out!

This is the kind of campaign you see when the opposition party has nothing substantive to complain about. The only way to get traction is to throw out red meat to the nuts.

I’m a little surprised we haven’t seen an abortion arms race stretching into toddler years, but I guess the moderators are shielding them. It’s one thing to get crazy about weird abstractions like fixing the climate, but there’s no way to make advocacy for murdering your kid until birth portray you as something other than a bloodthirsty savage.

Of course. Control the narrative. Virtue signal. Violence signal. That’s how TOTALITARIANS roll. Look at history.

Since the economy is doing well, they have nothing to complain about.

So since they have nothing to complain about, and no policies to deal with economic problems, since we don’t have a recession or other economic issues to run against, they simply ignore the subject.
