NC-9 Special Election Discussion
Bishop (R) vs McCready (D)
Bishop drug over the finish line by PT.
That’s part of it too, no doubt.
Union County and Meck will be sitting on votes all night.
Trump won the Mecklenburg section of district 9 but of course that doesn’t guarantee Bishop a win...
Good to know!
I have lived in eastern NC since the early 60s and have never heard that term! I am in the Camp Lejeune area which must be one of the most patriotic parts of the state! We just helped elect Greg Murphy to replace Walter Jones who died in February. I do not go to Fayetteville often, but I can tell you that it is very heavily black and might be expected to vote for the Democrat. It is good to see some blacks who are not blindly following the Democrats when in reality it is the Republicans who have been their true friends!
Bishop ahead!
NAME ON BALLOT PARTY BALLOT COUNT PERCENT
Dan Bishop REP 65,115 49.87%
Dan McCready DEM 64,721 49.56%
Jeff Scott LIB 494 0.38%
Allen Smith GRE 252 0.19%
How interesting! Thank you so much for sharing that.
Just this morning on Fox News there was a big fanfare over how improved the employment situation is for minorities since Trump took office.
But those same minorities probably haven’t the slightest idea of that (the “mainstream” media obviously isn’t going to promote it) and even if they did know, it likely would have almost no effect at the ballot box.
Here is a quick calculation for Mecklenburg.
Hopefully got all the numbers correct.
About 96k voted in 2018. This special election, assuming about 2/3 of that turnout. So maybe 63k voting this year.
Online results show 19k-12k D lead. That is 31k in votes tabulated. That would be around 50% of the vote counted.
Bishop +500

MagaCoalition with top pollster Richard Barris who did a great job in 2016!
Yay!
Yeah, if 7 districts of 50 of Meck are that populated, then they’re the urban ones. We get the ones close to Union now.
Oh wow.:)
Bishop to Rook 5. Check.
Bishop takes a lead but this will be back and forth according to pollster Richard Barris.

Geographically small, but pretty densly populated. Usually leans establishment Republican, but McCready won easily against Harris, and will win tonight. Need a big win by Bishop in my home county, Union.
Rough breakdown of votes for the district: Mecklenburg 34%, Union 31%, other 35%.
People need to stop sitting on numbers. Turn them in!
Bishop is leading now
