Trump wins 60 percent approval in rural areas of key states

President Trump’s job approval rating in rural areas of the Rust Belt and Great Plains states is at 60 percent, markedly higher than his job approval rating nationally, according to a new poll commissioned by Democrats.

A Change Research survey sponsored by The American Federation of Teachers and One Country, a group with close ties to former Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), found that 60 percent of voters from non-metro counties in Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and West Virginia approve of the job Trump is doing.

All of those states voted for Trump in 2016 with the exception of Colorado and Minnesota. Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin went red in the 2016 election for the first time in decades and Democrats believe that rebuilding that “blue wall” represents their likeliest path back to the White House.

While Trump’s job approval rating among rural Democrats is only at 7 percent, he gets 97 percent support from rural Republicans and 51 percent support from rural independents.

Rural areas for certain in Pennsylvania are TRUMP COUNTRY...

The problem we have are with the lazy, slow learners in Harrisburg, Philly, and the Burgh, all Moochers.....they need to wake up and smell the coffee...The workers in those area are DJT supporters...they know who they are...

Let’s get the vote out...and make liberals cry again on Election Day, Nov. 3, 2020...

He ought to have a rally in some rural areas. Maybe an inner city or two, also.

Among the states covered by the poll, Trump is most popular in North Dakota and Pennsylvania, hitting the 60 percent favorable mark in both states.

Democrats win Pennsylvania by running up large margins in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and the collar counties. The rest of the state comes along with them. Trump will need to win an overwhelming margin in rural PA to offset them.

He scores his lowest marks in Michigan and Wisconsin, where his favorability rating is at 51 percent.

Needs to improve those to offset the cities.

In 2016 Trump beat Clinton in 56 out of 67 Counties in Pennsylvania. He won by some 40,000 votes and most of the Counties that he won were at least 65% in his favor. So one can see that it takes a tremendous “rural” effort to win in blue States that have 2 giant metro areas like Philly and Pitt. Clinton was down in Philly by a few percentage points as compared to Obama. Similar to what happened in Michigan and Detroit turnout.

There are far more Republican farmers who refuse to take subsidies than those who do.

It’s just that those who refuse to take subsidies are broke and no longer farming.

You sound like an optimist ... a cautious one, though.

I most emphatically hope you are 100-percent correct.

Prolly closer to 75% in these parts (central PA aka PAlabama).

Makes the craziness posted about on FR every day seem even that much more insane.

I’m very grateful for a) living out in the country and, b) having grown up in an America that was still relatively sane.

But CNN said 6 out of 10 people said Trump doesn’t deserve reelection! How can this be?

“The big-city Democratic machine will have a problem this time around because the male-black vote will go to around 35-to-40 percent for Trump”

and it’s looking like that Trump’s Hispanic support is much higher than even that ...

I’m starting to think that the real reason that the Dems are going full-bore kommie is that they know Trump’s going to win re-election no matter what they do, so they might as well let it all hang out ... their mistake though is that if the GOP plays its cards right the GOP can capitalize on that insanity and take back the House and keep the Senate ...
