The owner of right-leaning cable news channel One America News Network (OANN) has filed a defamation lawsuit against Rachel Maddow and others claiming that the 46-year-old liberal commentator maliciously and recklessly smeared the network as a Russian state propaganda outlet.
In a press release obtained by Law&Crime, attorneys for OANNs owner Herrring Networks, Inc. said they filed a $10 million defamation lawsuit against Maddow, Comcast Corporation, NBC Universal and MSNBC in a California federal court.
The lawsuit tracks a series of longstanding grievances between OANN and Comcast.
According to the press release, the complaint alleges that Comcast refused to carry the right-wing network because OANN counters the liberal politics of its own channel, MSNBC. One week after that, OANNs founder Charles Herring sent an open email to Comcast deriding their alleged anti-competitive censorship.
Maddow apparently responded in turn, defending her own networks owners by blasting OANN and telling her own audience the right-wing network really literally is paid Russian propaganda.
Good. For far too long the media has had protections you and I don’t get.
My dentist gets it in Canada. Still can’t figure out how he does it.
Are you sure you can get it on Apple TV or Rokku? If so, I’m going out to get one (the kids want Disney Plus).
Sorry answered my own question:
Looks like I need 4th generation. Will start saving.
Good. More of this. I doubt it will do anything to change their attitudes but they should *NOT* be allowed to wantonly tell untruths.
Which service on roku has OANN?
If that statement was intended to defame!
Which this statement was!
With out a doubt.
OANN is the service. ROKU is the transport device. I've had OANN for years now, $4.99 a month. You can also stream Netflix, Amazon Prime, HULU etc etc..., separate charges apply.
$10M and the right to exploit it in marketing material and coverage? Hell yeah.
“We’re the network that MSNBC and Rachel Maddow lied about! Check out our 10pm news roundup!”
“MSNBC LIES and we have the proof!”
etc., etc.
Thank you for your help.
Be a shame if somebody busted the teeth out of her lying face...
It is the OANN app you find when you use the Search option.
Its their official channel, only.
OANN bump for later....
Does it come through the same cable that I get Comcast through?
Or is it a streaming thingie?
We get it on Directv. My sister gets it, and I think she’s on U-verse.
Hope OANN wins.
My understanding of the issue is that OANN bought stories from a freelance guy.
Freelance guy also pitched and sold his own story ideas to *other* news outlets—including a Russian one called Sputnik.
Big whoop.
It’s what freelancers do. The flip side being, the news outlets have freelancers stationed all over the world, and pay for their *local, independent* perspectives on events.
Rachel Maddow knows this.
But Maddow then accused OANN on the air of publishing “paid Russian propaganda” which is absurd. OANN wasn’t publishing the freelancer’s Sputnik stories, nor was Sputnik — or Russia— telling the freelancer what to write.
Contact your state attorney general. I did and my bill went to $65 for just what Id asked for. Received full refund too for the over charging
As far as I’m concerned, however much they pay her over there, it’s ill-gotten gains.
ATT Uverse also carries OANN (DirecTV is also ATT owned) - getting ready to ditch cable but haven’t checked OANN availability via other methods...but decided to do so now:
Couldn’t find any streaming services that carry it yet...

Plenty of KGB influence in the mainstream media, just ask Dead Red Ted Kennedy who used his connections to the media to get KGB access to the US voters in 1984 to try to unseat President Ronald Reagan.
Also the Saudis have been buying a stake in US news channels to control the narrative on Islamists.
