Founder of conversion therapy ministry comes out as gay

A married father-of-two from South Carolina who founded one of the nation's largest conversion therapy programs has come out as gay and strongly denounced the widely discredited practice.

McKrae Game, 51, the former leader of Hope for Wholeness, came out of the closet in June, nearly two years after he was fired from the faith-based conversion therapy ministry.

He is now trying to come to terms with the harm he inflicted on LGBTQ people when he was advocating for religious efforts to change a person's sexuality.

Conversion therapy has not been discredited. It has simply been lied about.

There are success stories, which flies in the face of these liars, in that the people move into a better place mentally, and become functionaly normal again.

And yes folks, it is normal to be a man or a women.

I know a number of gay guys that went through this thing.

They said it just ####ed them up more.

They don’t have to act on their gay impulses but to believe they will be “converted” is as ridiculous as thinking I or other straight men here can be “converted” into being gay.

For that matter, the BEST “conversion” therapy for straight males would be NO sexual desire because even lusting after a woman is a sin, and certainly pre marital sex is and even different sexual acts.

so convert everyone into not caring about sex.

OR teach the bible and self restraint.

Homosexuality is artificial and marriage is natural. Homosexual is man made and caused by early traumas that get magnified and then get deleted by therapy. There are thousands of ex-gay people that never get on Ellen’s show, because Ellen is close minded and weird.

I’m not convinced of that.

I appreciate the difference of opinion on it.

It’s much the same as an AA 12 step program.

If the person participating wants to work through it, there will be a much better chance of success.

I’ve seen testimonials of a number of different people who went through programs and were happy.

I’m not talking about leaders of programs, or people who are being backed by them for propaganda purposes.

Let me ask you a question.

A man gets married and lives with a woman for decades functioning like a heterosexual man. Then he hits 60 or so, and is suddenly a homosexual.

To hear a homosexual address the issue, he’ll tell you he just doesn’t function as a heterosexual. There’s no attraction between him and a woman.

So a guy has relations with a woman, has children, then later on turns homosexual.

If that can happen, why can’t it work in reverse.

Don’t tell me the guy was always a homosexual.

Homosexuals tell us they aren’t attracted to the opposite sex. This means they can’t function as a male with a woman.

That’s their claim, not mine.

How do you answer this dilemma?

In self-absorbed and narcissistic America, we have a 12-step program, a blue pill, a self-help book, a TV show, or internet counseling to change yourself and become whatever you want. If you are fat, you can become thin. If you are shy, you can become outgoing, if you are a drunk, you can become sober, if you are man - you can even become a woman.

But if you are a homosexual, there is NO help you can receive to become straight. According to fashionable society and government edict, its the only one completely immutable characteristic that exists in the world.

No, it isn't. What you are saying assumes that the same biological forces that make a man straight can make him gay, but that is obviously false. The genetic design is for heterosexuality, and the primary biological function (reproduction) is by definition heterosexual. Homosexuality is a disordered state of the natural design, and, therefore, could be presumed to have a tendency to WANT to return to its natural order.

In other words, it is probably easier to teach a man who eats dirt to eat regular food, than to teach a man who eats regular food to eat dirt.
