Does science say time is running out to stop climate disaster? (only 11.43 years left)
Politifact ^ | 9/01/19 | Kiannah Sepeda-Miller

In a recent campaign email, U.S. Rep. Sean Casten repeated a talking point often used by Democrats about how little time remains to turn the tide on climate change.

"Most climate scientists agree that we only have less than a decade to turn things around or else we’ll be stuck with a 'worst case scenario' including rising sea levels, devastating droughts, and worsening famines," read the email, which was attributed to Casten.

Prominent Democrats, including presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke and U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, made similar claims earlier this year that were contradicted by scientists in fact-checks by The Associated Press and CNN.

**SNIP**

Following the report’s release last October, a popular narrative began to emerge that there were only 12 years left to act in order to avoid the most extreme consequences of climate change. But experts say that conclusion overstates the report’s findings, which drew on the work of hundreds of scientists.

**SNIP**

"The next decade is indeed a critical window in which to achieve enough technological, economic and policy momentum toward a carbon-neutral world while minimizing societal disruption," he told us. "But on the other hand there's no geophysical cliff at the end of the decade that makes all our efforts moot if we don't make it all the way."

However, they said it’s an oversimplification to suggest we face a hard deadline of a decade to address climate change before crossing a threshold into climate disaster.

In other words, they're just making it all up. That's called fraud.

There was a Time cover about a new ice age coming.

I was maybe 8 at the time but am sure I saw it.

Maybe the ice age will meet global warming and temperatures will just stay the same.

smh

There’s always a false premise to begin with, that is how RATS set the discourse and the agenda. Just don’t let them do it; ask for specifics and names, call them on it.

There were three Time covers in the 1970s depicting an ice age.

Search: time magazine ice age

The Stupid Party (GOP) and the unwashed don’t bother to mention this.

“Science” only says what it is paid and politically motivated to say. The cool thing about “science” regarding this type of subject matter, is that they have been wrong many times about the trends ( cooling, no, warming, uh, no, maybe it SHOULD be warming, err, no wait the data ( scrub, cherry pick, model remodel/alter) says WE DONT KNOW! So, we better play it safe and say “11.43 years before “something” or other is gonna be too late to do anything about....

Whew! Glad I got that off my chest!

Fact is, we can do nothing to little if anything about any of the purported issues declared to be threats to mankind.

Enjoy life, be conservative in most everything except loving your neighbor and espc. your family as if it is the last day on earth, it just may be! Know God.

I like the 11.43 years. With that sort of precision, it has to be accurate.

they never mention what is common knowledge to us serfs.

Trump would mention it in a tweet. That’s why we love him.

I’ll send him it :)

If I thought there was ANY chance of someone who matters reading it I would.

"But on the other hand there's no geophysical cliff at the end of the decade that makes all our efforts moot if we don't make it all the way."

So what benefits did we get from reaching the goals of the Kyoto Protocols? Apparently nothing...as the hysteria has only intensified - likely - and solely - because this occurred without implementing any of the massive regulations they claimed would be required to do so - it simply happened through innovation in technology to do more with less energy.

"Most climate scientists agree that we only have less than a decade ...

They are liars. "Most"? Very few real climate scientists. The "Most" refers to a group of amateurs that are a tiny fraction of real scientist worldwide. Probably less than 1 percent of real climate scientists are this nutty to claim we have less than a decade. And a majority of real climate scientists know that feeble mankind has had little to do with any significant change in weather patterns, or that we can do anything to make it better. Our world has been here for billions of years, and the next million isn't going to be much different than what has gone on for the last million. So go buy some beachfront property like Obama did, and not worry about being underwater in the next decade.

Isn’t it amazing that the 1970’s “Industrial Winter” and since then “Global Warming” both have the same cure, government control of energy use (the means of production). Will socialism/communism cure any possible problem?

in typical Politifact style, virtually everyone named in the article says it’s not true, then Politifact says they rate the Democrat Casten’s claim MOSTLY TRUE!

Well, there is real scienc, else you would not be on a computer on a message board on the internet.

The important thing is so-called climate “science” is not even CLOSE to matching all the needed requirements to be a science.

If AGW were A Scientific Theory there would be one model and it would be preductive. Instead there are hundreds that get updated when time proves them wrong again and again and again.

AGW does not even qualify as a hypthesis.

In that you are correct about money polluting science. Once huge grants were offered by politicians to do “science” that arrived at onky one conclusion then it is just apoligetics.

It’s all about money. Just follow the money trail and ask who would benefit from it.
Trillions in new taxes, fees, regulations etc.
The pursuit of life, liberty and happiness squashed like a bug. Tyrants ruling over every single facet and element of one’s life.
THAT is what the communists are after....total control and trillions of dollars to make it happen.
