We already know that the Left regards the United States Constitution as a noxious constraint on their dream of using the might of the state to compel obedience to their dogmas, however they may evolve. The First and Second Amendments bother them a lot. But when the Supreme Court is dominated by liberals who make up rights they like from the previously unknown penumbra of the "living" Constitution, that pesky document matters less.
But the news that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been treated for a recurrence of pancreatic cancer has the Left in a tizzy. Should President Trump be able to name a replacement for her and the GOP-majority Senate confirm that nominee, the Court will have a 5- or 6-vote majority for originalism — actually following what the Constitution says, not what Liberals imagine that it should have said.
This prospect led David Axelrod warn that progressives will tear the country apart if the Constitution is followed, should Justice Ginsburg succumb before Trump leaves office. Of course, he used the passive voice to avoid the truth that the Left will be the ones doing the tearing apart:

The problem when you go all Resistance, all hate, all screeching about impeachment from the git-go is that you don’t have much of anything left when it comes to this sort of prospective negotiation. Trump has zero, maybe less than zero, motivation for compromise on the issue.

After the left reaches new heights of ludicrousy, any other pick will give them their “victory.” Trumps first nomination will need to be a hard fake. I say go big or stay home. Get all the bang for your buck you can.
For the Democrats, RBG retiring might be their best campaign hope for next year. It gives them another doom and fear disaster to peddle to their LIV base.

Actually given the number of RINOs and anti trumpsters in the senate, I’d be surprised if he were able to get a very conservative justice through. It could be worse if we actually lose the senate in the coming election but not by much more given the likes of Romney and a few others in the Senate already.
When they talk of being “political” on the SC, is there any image more indicative of that concept then the one where RBG is hanging on on her way?? If Thomas got a splinter, the dems would be howling for his retirement.
