A former friend of the gunman who slaughtered nine people outside of a Dayton, Ohio, bar said he cut off their friendship when the mass shooter held a gun to his head about five months ago, a report said Monday.
Will El-Fakir, who went to the same high school as gunman Connor Betts, told the Dayton Daily News that Betts had been “getting a little violent with friends” and began to bring guns around them in recent months.
Betts then held a gun to El-Fakir’s head about five months ago for no reason, he told the newspaper. El-Fakir said he cut ties with Betts after the incident.
El-Fakir told the newspaper he recounted the incident to Dayton police officials Sunday afternoon.

El-Fakir added that he’d witnessed strange behavior from Betts before the gun incident.
“There were times when he went to bars and just scoped the place out,” El-Fakir said.
“He’d say, ‘If I brought this-or-that through here, it would have done some damage.’”

Please let’s discuss nationally some way to put away people - in hopes of rehab and release - who show EVERY SIGN of becoming a mass shooter. Freedom is not freedom for people who can’t handle it.

And why am I not surprised that one of the murderer’s friends was likely Islamic?
the reliance on drugs was a way to clear the mental hospitals and try to give each mentally ill a “normal live’ outside of abusive large institutions and poor conditions.
Now we have tens of thousands of Mentally Ill on the street and as with many parolees I saw, there is no one around to ensure they take their meds.
We have to triage people and put the ill ones in supervised living in smaller facilities than large hospitals.
As far a people that are threatening or meet a profile, they also need to be triaged, which is what the FBI and the cops should have done with the guy in Florida.
Shooting mass numbers of innocent people and having violent ideation or posting violent manifestos to that effect should be considered a form of mental illness and the person screened to see of they are a danger to others.
PS I favor more citizens carrying.

I'd think that would raise some red flags, but no.

Maybe he was scared to death of the guy.
Maybe he figured the police wouldn’t believe his story, and then Betts would really be angry.
But, this shows that laws are pointless if no one reports anything.

the dayton shooter called for gun control in 2018 after the florida shooting. he even taunted a florida politician for that tragedy.
Well, he saw something, but he didn’t report it in time.
That is the problem!!!
He also threatened to kill his mother, and the Police were called.
At least one person called a FBI tip line about him, and at least one more person called a local Police hotline about him.
He also had psychological exams and counseling at least six times at school.
Last, but not least - he legally bought a semi-automatic rifle, because none of those prior incidents appeared on his record.
Odd that someone calling for gun control shoots up a place
and kills people.
Betts is the prototypical government handler’s zombie. Why put him away when they can use him when they want/plan/need to slaughter a few Americans for propaganda purposes?
