Please let’s discuss nationally some way to put away people - in hopes of rehab and release - who show EVERY SIGN of becoming a mass shooter. Freedom is not freedom for people who can’t handle it.

the reliance on drugs was a way to clear the mental hospitals and try to give each mentally ill a “normal live’ outside of abusive large institutions and poor conditions.

Now we have tens of thousands of Mentally Ill on the street and as with many parolees I saw, there is no one around to ensure they take their meds.

We have to triage people and put the ill ones in supervised living in smaller facilities than large hospitals.

As far a people that are threatening or meet a profile, they also need to be triaged, which is what the FBI and the cops should have done with the guy in Florida.

Shooting mass numbers of innocent people and having violent ideation or posting violent manifestos to that effect should be considered a form of mental illness and the person screened to see of they are a danger to others.

PS I favor more citizens carrying.

This guy reminds me so much of Nikolas Cruz.

Just HOW many times did he state clearly that he wanted to kill people?

I'd think that would raise some red flags, but no.

Now we have to deal with every David Hogg wannabe calling for gun control.

Betts is the prototypical government handler’s zombie. Why put him away when they can use him when they want/plan/need to slaughter a few Americans for propaganda purposes?

Alright, let's discuss red flag laws. Here's an example--a scenario that is only fictitious for now.

It would work much like a restraining order. A member of a local circle of drug dealers and rapists would call to accuse a straight neighbor of exhibiting violent, insane behavior.

A form would be filled out. A judge would order an evaluation and that all weapons and ammunition be taken from the accused for the duration of an extended and complicated evaluation. That is, if the accused woman isn't committed for the duration of the evaluation. A SWAT team raid on the accused would follow. The accused would be disarmed in front of her neighbors.

The thugs would then invade her home or catch her walking between her car and her house. They would hold her hostage at gunpoint for a while, beating and raping her repeatedly. Then they might simply cut her throat or bludgeon her to death, if they're not feeling routinely sadistic. And if she has children,...

What do you think? Would red flag laws help? Do criminals follow gun control laws, or do they buy stolen weapons or otherwise illegal weapons or trade drugs for them? Would it not happen to women. Bear the enormous numbers of publicized cases of child molesting (especially teachers) and domestic violence committed by women (and restraining orders against women) in mind.

A much intensified drug arrest and conviction campaign might yield some safety from mass murders, though. Bust the addicts enough times, and they might stay locked up for a while.

Problem is that after One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1962) and the Community Mental Health Act of 1963, that even if the law were changed, the mental health resources don't exist and aren't likely to exist, at least in our lifetimes. There is a severe shortage of psychiatrists (gov't "experts" underestimated the need for psychiatrists) and inpatient psychiatric hospital beds.

After they forced deinstitutionalization, the liberals then burned the bridge.

The closed/abandoned Fairfield Hills State Hospital in Newtown CT is a 2.8 mile drive from Sandy Hook Elementary School.
