Top US Navy SEAL tells commanders in light of misconduct: 'We have a problem'

The top US Navy SEAL recently sent a blistering letter to the force, writing in boldface type, "We have a problem," following several high profile incidents of alleged misbehavior by the US Navy's elite service members, CNN has learned.

Rear Adm. Collin Green has given commanders until August 7 to detail the problems they see and provide recommendations on how they will ensure troops are engaging in ethical and professional behavior.

The letter -- dated July 25 and exclusively obtained by CNN -- comes in the wake of several high profile incidents of alleged misbehavior by SEALs.

"I don't know yet if we have a culture problem, I do know that we have a good order and discipline problem that must be addressed immediately," Green said.

So true: we have had one wimpy Commandant after another. No resistance to idiot “girls in the infantry” stuff and gays dancing with each other at the Marine Corps Balls.

From the article, we have some “salty” Marines chafing at being reintrodued to Marine Corps standards after serving overseas. Big whoop. Try fighting in a war where we lose 400 dead in a week.

The standards exist for a reason.

behavior like that used to bring a minimum of five hot days of chipping, priming and painting the flagpole top to bottom - twice.

The old joke about how does a SEAL op order differ from a delta op order?

The SEAL mission order also addresses book and movie rights.

Did the SEALs ever have Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin?

Alcohol is forbidden in most Islamic countries. Troops rarely get any and what they do get is usually smuggled in.

“The letter — dated July 25 and exclusively obtained by CNN...”

I’m going to take this ‘exclusive’ with a big grain of salt. Maybe an entire salt lick block!

That said, WHO was most recently our Commander in Chief when things started falling apart in our Military?

Yep. :)

I joined the Army when Carter was Prez because THERE WERE NO JOBS and I could get $$$ for college. The wheels totally fell off during the Clinton Admin; we lost thousands of Senior NCOs and Captains during those years.

IMHO/experience, modern day, we pretty much have to rebuild after we’ve had a ‘Rat in the White House.

*SPIT*

That was my point.

I’m glad to say Al Gray was my Commandant. Krulak was okay, Amos was okay, but they mainly spend time on uniform regs and tattoo policies these days. And putting WMs where they don’t belong.

The SEAL seem to be a dirty private club, protecting each other like a brotherhood, as opposed to the green berrets who have a consciousness for the work they do in gaining trust,

My experience with them was that when Seals failed and got kidnapped, it was not SEALs that came to get them back but the adults of the bunch, the green Berrets, that is. Also when standing guard at a camp they attempted to walz through without giving me their ID, getting angry at me for not recognizing that they were “ NAVY”. It was damn rude and arrogant of them to use awe of rank and what not on someone on duty like this. The green berrets never ever gave me sht like this, and they stood head and shoulders above these pricks, imo.

They always seemed above the rules, with Apache pilots giving them cover always stunned at how rules of engagement did not apply to them, bewildered that one time they shot a shepherd carrying a rifle without asking questions, dubbing it “this guy straight up murdered the dude”.

I hate to say it, but something is rotten in Navy. It is like a state with the state.

When I was in the Army not too long ago, at least before the gays got in, it was customary for sergeants to find anything wrong with you as an excuse to make you do oush ups and some PT. We did not get butt hurt nor see this as a punishment but as some kind of tradition to keep us in shape, To see this kind of tradition of discipline going by the way side in the Marine corp of all things is appalling.

To me, a professional keeps their weapons ready for reliable use at all times.

The same thing used to worry me, a non-professional, whenever I was stopped by the Mexican military at one of their rural roadblocks. What does it tell me when these teen-aged soldiers are holding machine guns that are all dirty and dinged to hell, I would ask myself.

There seems to be something wrong with the culture with the SEALs - heavy into the look and the swagger, light on the military discipline part. Sort of the Soldier of Fortune Magazine idea of what a combat soldier looks like.

Warfare requires some of strictest self control, unit cohesiveness imaginable. Costumes and bad haircuts don’t add anything to the mix.

Since naval aviation began the flight officers (The tailhook association) were a spirited bunch that offended the genteel academy canoe club culture and the democrat congress femenazi culture.

They had a big party in 1991 with alcohol and women aplenty. Some did not act like officers and gentlemen. This violated the sensitivities of the old guard and they gutted naval aviation's best talent for several years.

Now the special warfare types are offending the same groups and getting hammered. The outcome may be the same, decimation of a very effective fighting force for PC reasons.

That's WTF I was talking about.

Then you may be pleased to hear that I had to scramble to replace 2 contractors that the MPs saw them by alcohol at the IZ and arrested them. The were immediately sent out of the country.

I also joined under JC and the “hollow force”. Enjoyed the buildup under Reagan. The suffered under BJ Clinton and then got to visit SWA 4 times under W.

As you say the military is hammered/neglected/woosified under Dems and then built up with the Repubs.
